Buttons on Chan jackets

Thread Starter
For those of you with Chan jackets, are the buttons plastic or horn? I'm not good at telling the difference, but it sure looks like there's a seam typical of plastic buttons running around the edge of the buttons on my Chan jacket. dan

Other members may have requested them to use horn buttons. Usually, horn buttons are not in the same colour tone as your suit.

I have never had a horn button that didn't constantly cut the thread and have to be sewn back on. Major drag. I always thought I should get a router and smooth down the cut edges but life is way too short.

The buttons on my Chan suits are horn.

I went to the fitting with them today and inquired as to the material of the buttons in question.  Mr. Chu informed me that the buttons used by default are a composite of horn and plastic.  But if you ask for genuine horn buttons, he is more then willing to comply.

What are you ordering? Do those Clayton swatches look good?

The Clayton swatches were a bit more conserative style-wise then the Loro Piana special of last time.  I was torned between a midnight blue double-stripe and a midnight blue multi colored stripe but settled on the double-stripe because the stripes were closer together.  The feel of the cloths were quite nice smooth on the hand and appears to be a nice tight weave.  I think they are much better then the Loro Piana cloth which feels "less smooth" to the touch.  Probably why lint seems to stick on it the Loro Piana cloth more.  These cloths appear to have excellent drape characteristics but not as soft to the touch as VBC cloth but smooth nonetheless.

I requested all horn and was given a choice of 4 different shades.
