Levis 501 new fit - Page 2

I bought a pair of the "new" 501 STF from Sears 2 weeks ago. About a week before I bought them, I shrunk a pre-redesign pair than I had never worn that was a year old and had sat in my closet. Maybe b/c I fell asleep in the bathtub w/ above average warm water for 70 minutes, but they were too tight and they were my "normal" size. I then went to Sears and unknownginly bought the supposedly new 501's an inch bigger in the waist. Sat in tub for 40 minutes and after two more soaks, they're too big and a bit baggy. I'm a little dissapointed. I'm not sure if these are the new cut (yes, they have the 501 tag), as the person above said that the new ones are mixed with the old ones. I plan on going to the Levi's store, trying things out, and then going back to sears/jc penny to buy the new model, in my "old" size and see what happens. Upstarter

I bought a pair of STF a few days ago. They're the old kind and I already shrunk them .

I went to my local Sears today and their entire stock of 501 STFs were the new cut. That was pretty easy. The hard part was finding the 501xx made in Mexico jeans instead of the Dominican made ones. Is there a difference? Probably not, I just like the XX designation.

On a related note, the Japanese magazine, Men's Fudge (yeah, fucked up name) has a short blurb about the new 501s and puts a pair of old style and new style 501s side to side to show the differences in cut. It seems that the new cut is just slimmer in the thigh and leg.

Could you possibly link to that magazine/scan it?

Just checked the 501 STF I ordered a month and a half ago...it's the new cut. Whew! However I couldn't have told the difference before this thread, it's still a slightly-baggy fit after an hours-long soak and a good couple wears. Sexy combs though.

As a first timer.. are the 1947 looser or tighter in the leg as compared to the new 501 stf ?

According to Cinch, their specialist store in London, they're unacnnily close; the mass-market version has a slightly lower rise.

I bought some of the "global blues" which I think is the new cut 501s. I absolutely love them.

I have already shrunken 501XX that have excess material just below the bum/top of thighs. I also think the rise a bit high. How would I go about fixing this? Is there an tailor option that shorten rise (from the crotch), tighten thighs, and reduce butt fabric? Anyone know what needs to be done?
