Talking of overcoats, what about the raincoat. Of course it was as popular as the crombie or sheepskin but it was worn. By Mods and Skinheads.
Normally fly fronted three quarter length, colours beige, navy or tonic materiel. Never of course macintosh style.
Anyone else?
Regarding Skinhead girls, in the 60s, I don't think we ever looked at them as Skinhead Girls or called them skinheads, they was just girls...and i don't think they looked at themselves as Skinheads,
Early on they did not even wear any type of skinhead clothing, then they started to wear suits, the odd BD and later a Crombie, cant remember seeing a girl wearing a Harrington.
I suppose the later 79/80s scene you could label them Skinhead Girls, ??

I definitely know some girls considered themselves to be 'Skinheads' and have seen at least one photo of a girl in a Harrington (and know personally of one, at least, who wore one). Your perception of them could well have been different to how they perceived themselves.
Since we're on the topic of skinhead girls I thought I'd post this pic. Not really sure if its, 60s or 80s new breed.
What I found more interesting are the lose fitting pants held up only by the braces. Was it common for originals to wear their pants intentionally larger so as to make the braces more functional rather than just ornamental?

Just to confirm the pic above was from the Daily Mirror Feb 3rd 1970, I posted it on here some months ago, the paper clip belongs to my mate Della,
I am at a total loss for something to say about the above comment......Jeez, I've heard it all now. But let's just say, The Squires and their ilk never, EVER influenced UK Mods. Especially by wearing bleached jeans, they look like a bunch of pussies. And I doubt very much if Mods in the UK had heard of them or their music on any scale at all.

The bottom clip i don't think i have put it on here before, if you read it ..even then the reporter of the time has got some of the facts wrong.
