It was all about progression - none of us 'old' people could have retained the look of the original skin theme... we moved with the times.

But we never noticed... it was just progress and, I'm not sure when I realised i was 'progressing'... we just did 'trends.. (Even up here, in 't' North.)

Did fashion for us older people end? I don't think so, we just moved on and, FWIW, I reckon you 'll notice - as I do - people of my age, 58, who were smart and 'of the time' while not style-conscious, still look better than those who just threw on what was in the wardrobe.

I went to a party a few weeks ago - I take pics and did it for a friend who I'd helped out previously - and a fella came up and said: 'Love the loafers, pants (albeit Chinos, but I'm fat) and the polo (RL) very 'mod') ... turned out he's just hooked up with the re-emergence of the new' Mod' thing that'a around - 35 and a dentist.

I have a pic - I'll let you see it when I'm sober enough to u/l it. satisfied.gif

Edit: I did have their heads - but not permission... the guy believes he's 'new'.

Without sounding like a right nana, ill be gutted when all this information is in the mainstream.

A lot of this stuff has taken decades to find out (and this place has been a gold mine), and I feel quite honoured (for want of a better word) or special to be "in the know". But once the book is finished, it's out there for every Tom, Dick or This is England wannabe to see.

But thats the thing with tinterweb, everything is out there.

Grumpy Gramps.... Over and out!

So is anyone playing out on Saturday then?

I'm just a tart!

Though young. (No wonder I used to be approached by men of 'alternative' sexuality.) (Fuqqin' EEEEEEK!)

It's a great website but... it will for ever be 'owned' by those who were there at the start - or around the time (i'm a late one at '69) - and history will record that.

Some fantastic memories from proper affiliates of the era... that's alzheimer's for you. satisfied.gif

But seriously - and not me having a giraffe - I do wonder if the 'skinhead' era could have been wiped from popular culture because of perceived - or otherwise - political correctness... which would be a shame because for many of us, that was our youth.

The 'book' - and I will be delighted, if asked, to help market the tome - will set the record straight... and that has to be applauded. smile.gif

I use to post cover songs(me and acoustic guitar)on Youtube.I would leave the vids up for a month or so and get about 25 views, then I would delete(I believe in copyright etc.)Typed my name and mp3 into google and found two vids I deleted a year ago were being offered for free by some website.Youtube defines themselves as a "Publisher" Anything you post on YT is then owned by them.I suspect YT sold the vids I made and deleted(I guess they are never really deleted,YT keeps em on file)to this website. What i'm supposing Ed is if you posted the photo of you on this thread and nowhere else, then somehow Google got a hold of it from the folks who sponsor this thread. It appears the only option these days if you don't want your stuff stolen is NEVER POST IT.

I think, if the "Establishment" had its way.the whole of our Social History would be wiped out.I am not just saying about our Scene, but the whole lot.Look at the way old Clubs are being torn down-and no History to say what was there,It is our Memories, when we go there will be nothing. The 60s(and 70s) will just go into the History Books with maybe Pictures. It will be left with People who will not go against the norm, because it will upset their little cosy world. We "Walked Proud".smile.gif

More than likely they just got scraped or ripped (stolen) from YT. They'll almost certainly be found on websites ending in .CN nod[1].gif

I'm sure that's the case. Put something on the interwebz, that's it, you've lost control of it.

Not an issue for me, my friend; I have nothing to lose - except my slim, sylph-like image that, if some sad wanker gets off on it... crack on! - toss-pot.

Though I doubt I am such an icon. satisfied.gif

The WWW is a great resource... but, for such a huge entity, it is, as I've mentioned earlier (pissed) tonight devoid of our wee (small) part of it.

C'mon - we warrant better than a smudge, in the margin, of what was the Mod(ernist) movement.
