these are the most easily avail on ebay, if you dont mind used shoes. The Florsheim "kenmoor imperial" brogue has the right style for a skinhead brogue. avail in oxblood/burgundy or black

if anyone is interested in a pair of size 7UK (US8) oxblood brogues (Made in England), proper style longwing, worn about 3x for about an hour each time so practically brand new, send me a message for details. Please dont ask me to post the details here, PM me if interested. Reason i'm selling is because the way the shoe is designed, it rubs my ankles funny which I can't sort out to my liking so unfortunately they'd be better off with someone else who can get some wear out of em since they are topnotch shoes.

You can actually soften the Leather(around the Ankles)by gently tapping with a Hammer and bending it-to make it supple.A trick of the trade I used to sell (Shoes ).

I had the same problem with a pair of Florsheim kenmoors. I figured it might soften after a bit of wear and sure enough it did.
I wore it to work about five times and now it's as confortable as any other pair of shoes I have.

i've had other shoes/boots that did the same, a couple weeks of bloody ankles then once broken in, like wearing slippers

i dunno, something about the level of the shoes are at the opening, it's a just a tiny bit higher than all of my other shoes but enough to put it right at a spot that cuts into my ankles when I walk, almost like having a saw blade there cutting back and forth....i cant wear em more than an hour before I just want to chuck em off and throw into a fire. I've "manned up" on plenty of footwear, i remember buying a new pair of boots in London and wearing them immediately, walking around town with my ankles bleeding...but these have a different feeling of discomfort and are gonna need a bit more intestinal fortitude on my part before they are wearable!

The Brogues Mike had made on UKSkinheads are like that with me. I ended up putting an insole in them to raise my foot very slightly. Done the trick. Might be worth a try.

Takes me ages to break shoes in, I only wear them weekends due to wearing boots every day at work, I bought a pair of England made DMs Two Years ago, first pair since 70, still cant break the fcukers in, i wear Timberland at work far more comfortable.

I've made the mistake of going out in new shoes - straight from the box. The buggers were crippling me so much that I walked home in my socks. I bet I'm not the only one

Talking of bloody ankles and heel lacerations, I have a new pair of Loakes Royals on their way to me.
What Is the best polish to use on these burgundy brogues. They need to last me a long time.

I REALLY need some assistance with my next suit for this fall/winter.

I was thinking of something different, perhaps a double breasted jacket.

The problem is I have little reference of proper double breasted skinhead/ suedehead suits. One of the feel references is from this video:


It's not the greatest images but is the only one I could find.
That bring up some questions:

-Was those suits high button or fastened to middle?
-From what I know from other posts is that most proper suits were single vent, but in a double breasted shouldn't be side vents?
-Was the lapels always notched or peak acceptable?
-Was brass "ivy style" buttons common at the time?
-Besides Tonik and PoW which other fabrics were common for F/W suits? Were flannels whore at all?
-The end of the trousers looked usually clean, where cuffs never popular?

The only suit that I could find that has a similar style (I am assuming of course,) is this Brooks Brother's Black Fleece jacket.

I don't like the DNA it look too much like a Mod costume with the exaggerated lapel and extreme high buttoning, looks like a peacoat .

I know this is a lot of questions but I really respect your opinions on this matter

^^ since Loakes are made from a corrected grain leather, instead of full grain, it's not going to matter that much. Kiwi, Cherry Blossom, Timpsons, Trickers....any of those burgundy/oxblood polishes will be fine

I'm sorry for not introducing myself properly ,but having 'lurked' here for a while I will get round to it one day. I just wanted though to contribute to 'soundsnpressure' question.

If you email Loake on their website and ask for their recommendation on polish they may send you a complimentary tin of their own. Having bought a pair of burgundy Loake Royals from Jump the Gun a few months back( delighted with both the shoes and the top service) I did just that and was chuffed to get a nice email back from Loake asking for my name and address so they could send some.
