Back in the 60s,you never took a Camera out-either because People were "Camera Shy" or it got nicked!!

sounds about right most mums took the pics, its funny i remember when i had my first proper crop my old dad went mental , he was shouting at my mum whats the neighbours going to say about this SKINHEAD living next door, lol but tell me this it has stayed with us all for all these years why do you think . to me it was the best thing that happened for something that did not last long they were POWERFUL days , i loved it and here we are still having the crack A

Same here, for weeks it was "Get your Haircut"-then when I appeared with a No.4.I got it in the Neck.From`67 until `70 it was good, then it went from there.
the best trilby hat i had was out of dunn and co in ilford, my old mum ripped it of my head one day and hid it , i found it days later under a cuishon on the settee creased to bits i thought it was ruinid but she did me a favour and steamed it over a boiling kettle, it was never the same after that i rekon that hat was 2 pounds plus in old money . you worked at the palais did you ever go to the sat afternoon dances when you was younger

Great memories.

In '69, I remember going for a No2 crop - the usual guy was shut - Wednesday half-day. (Bad timing.)
I was taking a bird out that night and needed the barnet cut so, risked a local fella... not a great plan.
I tried to explain a razor parting - it ended up looking I'd been done with an axe.
I told him to shave the lot and, he was so surprised, he went to the electrical shop next door to get the owner to watch. (Like I gave a shit.)

Job done, I went home and my mother just about had a fit. The old man laughed, saying it would grow back... and hoped I hadn't paid to be scalped.
The (potential) new bird took one look as I met her off a bus, and I was binned before getting to the disco.
School the next day - I was a grammar school boy - the head, casting his eyes over assembly, did the classic 'double take', gave me the who the fuqq are you? look? - but couldn't fathom out who I was and had me launched out for a week - and caned.
His exact words, when I was identified, was along the lines of: 'Vaughan! You look like an animal. Go home and tell your parents to call me.'
It was a good week off, I went swimming, hung about outside the local convent school gates and got a tan.
Happy days.
