Mod to Suedehead - Page 421

Hello gentleman , i would like to clear up a small issue re an interveiw i did for BRITISH STYLE GENIUS regarding the much talked about size of the check on your shirt ect. I was a skinhead when it all started in 1969 i was 14 , plenty old enough a lot of the guys were a lot older and when your 14 and knocking about with 18 plus guys you tend to look up to your elders . and a certain crew at the time in east london , not all skinheads, but this certain firm had one guy leading them , and he wore a black and white check and the other guys wore stripe small check ect . This is how this one gang did it. a bit like later on some guys took to following the clockwork orange garb , of white sta prest collerless shirts ect , only a small minority if i remember. that is a pic of me on this site , in 1970 . And the shades are polaroids gold frame , and yes they are tattoos on my fore arms, i got tattooed around 13 . i found this site by chance but great to read all your posts all the best A

On the subject of brouges i used to buy mine from a shop down brick lane in east london called blackmans, any one remember it .what about solatio box weave , and the high leg officer boots , i just brought some lovely barker brouges and a pair of loafers , its all back our style
Hello Alan
I bought this pair of Brogue boots from Blackmans just before Christmas last year..
Great little shop with plenty of quality shoes in there.Apparently,he goes to big shoe manufacturers like NPS in Northampton and buys large quantities of shoes from them when orders are low. Then sells them at really cheap prices. These boots cost me £75,they sell in BBC in Camden for about £150.
I liked your contributions to British Style Genius and The End-enjoyed them both.
Just a few weeks ago I actually bought me them Florsheim Kenmoor wingtip brogues in black. I haven't had the occasion to wear them out yet
... but I'll see how well they hold in time.gonna put them together with this suit jacket I recently bought on ebay:
I would love the AE wingtips but holy sh!t are they out of my price range.
Regarding Blackmans,I bought a pair of oxblood brogue boots from there just before Christmas:
Got them for a really good price-he buys a lot of stuff in bulk from shoe makers when their orders are low and then sells them at a really good price.I got these for £75 and a simalar pair in Brit Boot company in Camden goes for £150.
You can post pictures easily if you have the files digitally on your computer. just click on the icon resembling a painting when you are in the section to post on the forum. There you can choose to either upload it on styleforum (it will put them in your album here on styleforum on your profile) so you don't need to look for an external hosting webpage, or you can do that find an external photo host page like imageshack or photobucket.

I tried to upload my previous picture and it did it,but then flashed a message up about not being on here for long and then it dissapeared without me getting time to read the rest of it and it didn`t post it.Thats why i used photobucket,
The icon NEXT to the paper clip icon(attachment) on the reply is the one you click on(image). From there, you can browse your computer & select pics from your desktop folder and they'll upload here.

your right mate i remember the night we were told that about the guy with the inch check sherman i was a brand new skin about thirteen and a half . We were of our manor and had been invited over to a youth club banged out with nearly all ex mods turned skin,s i still remember all the long sideburns we didnt have a bit of fluff on our chins, and there were about 20 of em . the geezer was there livley lad and like you said probaly there best fighting man . we were told by them that he was wearing a leaders shirt, at that time most of us couldnt afford a ben sherman let alone a proper ginham check it never came over on the tv cos they cut loads of it out, it was just an old story that stuck in my mind . great days though where were you from back then , all the best A

No clue
Because there needs to be more pictures of girls

the "no clue" picture if i remember correctly was from the fred perry website, a user posted it on their website. i think they stated it was their dad or uncle (not sure) with his mates. i can't remember any other detail however..
