There have been many good Photos coming out of the "Twisted Wheel" Archives.It was the only Club(outside of London)that I wanted to go to-but never did in the 60s.The Photo showing the 4 Fellas is an eye-opener.If they were Cords being worn they were one year in front of us.Cannot remember seeing anyone wearing them before the Levi ones(in `69).Maybe M-o-M can put me right on this oneI wore a "Needle Cord"Jean Jacket in `67.The Sheepskin is interesting as well!

The Wheel in manchester as such is still going as soul nights and the odd all nighter go, im gunna pop down in march see what its like..

Speaking of sheepskins, heres my new one for this winter and what i was wearing today.. and has served me well so far   :

 

 

 

Note the silk scarf slipping..like said earlier pages pain in the arse pulling them up all the time !

 

 

 

I'm always curious who reads threads like this.

Seems like one stop shopping for fashion designers; this thread has been going strong for a while, maybe that's so much men's clothing right now seems reminiscent of smart skinhead (vnecks, checks, etc.)

Man oh man......After about a month I finally reached the end of this thread...Hats of to you guys - lots of inspiration and  valuable info.

 

 I consider myself more of a political skinhead rather then traditional but I do try hard to stay as close to trad skinhead clothing style as possible. And this thread is a gold mine of good stories and advises as well as such a valuable history lesson.

this is true. look at all the stuff that has survived over the years as skinhead gear that has seen a resurrection by way of fashion boys and normals

top of my head
-harrington jackets
-trousers cut to no break or even shorter
-american heavy brogues
-fair isle knits
-gingham shirts paired with vnecks
-donkey jackets made by fashion houses
-shirts with the 3rd neck collar button
etc

Great photo mate. Nice sheepskin (p.s. silk scarves ALWAYS slip IMO)

 

My sheepskin has been worn a great deal this winter, I'll be sad to store it away as the weather starts to warm up.

I've just cropped a picture of me, so you can see my current sheepskin (excuse the facial stubble, and my daughters dolls pushchair tho)

 

Not sure what the originals think of this style/colour/fit. The cuffs aren't long enough to fold back, as I have fairly long arms, this is common with most jacket/coats for me. But, I do prefer wearing the cuffs folded down anyway, so this suits me.

 

I intend to invest in a dark brown SS, I Just haven't seen a decent one available for a while, in a decent enough condition to purchase.

IMO, of all the 'skinhead uniform', jackets i.e. harringtons,crombie's,MA-1's,monkey jackets, donkey jackets, the sheepskin seems to make the biggest 'statement' to the average joe bloggs on the street. The inane 'Dell-boy', 'car salesman' comments can get a bit tiresome off these twats

I have been reading this thread for some time so i thought i would join and say how much i have thoroughly enjoyed it and thank you.

 

Are any of you on the UK skinheads forum. That is also very informative on the style.

Thought i'd just post a pic of myself, the other asian kid here. Trad skin at heart turned, scooterboy/ mod as you can tell in the piccy. looking at this pic, i'm still amazed that I'm almost 40! hahaha

Boots, braces, (crombie) overcoats, macs, surfer/monkey jackets, loafers. They pretty much do everything except in a slimmer fit (well around here they do). Haven't seen a whole lot of slipover/sleeveless pullovers or sta prest action.

They usually have stupid gay haircuts and often combine it with ghastly items like bow ties and god knows what.

But for reference, this is a friend of mine, he doesn't have anything to do with the skinhead scene as you can see, but he's usually in the latest "fashions" (since he also works in that industry), and I was quite suprised when I saw this picture last december on his facebook:


Of course the details and how to wear the clothes is't there, but still.

And a month or so earlier he didn't frown to wear a pair of brogue boots (now I know brogue boots weren't worn back then, but as you can see on the other footwear any kind of boot-style is back)

Not exactly a fashion house, but this one is by asos.  

From what I've seen, SOME people sport boots and braces(with really f*cking awful boots though). I've also seen people wear MA-1 flight jackets/monkey jackets & cardigans(I have yet to see a "norm" wear a cardigan that isn't soo damn tight!). There are also quite a few people that wear their jeans/trousers with the bottoms above(or high above) their ankles. I don't really think much of it though as I see they have their own thing going on but I guess that's how it goes.
