hey people, i was in a pretty bad car accident recently, miraculously survived with only cuts & bruises however my beloved navy MIE baracuta G9 has been ripped in 3 places, the biggest rip being 1.5" on the sleeve. Any recommendations on repair? I've been thinking of patching it up... also some blood & misc stains, should i just bring it to cleaners?

Everyone I knew had a pair off cords in their wardrobe, usually beige or black. I've got a photo somewhere of myself taken in 1973 wearing a pair of black Levi's cords with white wood/leather soled shoes (Kingsway?), patterned crew neck sweater and a tartan hat! I was going through my boot boy stage at the time...and no, I will not post it here cos I look a right dickhead!  lol8[1].gif

And great in the way that they have never been reproduced to my knowledge.
Only realy seen them at Northern Soul do's. Always liked them.
The only ones (vintage of course) I've ever found on e-bay have never been in my size.

I once found some DM ones on e-bay (age and era unknown) in a size larger than I take, but I was still going to try and win them.
Until on closer inspection the seller had modified the shoes, he had added tassles to the shoes.!
Such a shame. The red and black basket weave to the front was superb.

Bunty - Best photo's I've seen in years. Faultless IMHO.

There was a really nice pair recently on Ebay. Black shoes with red and black basket weave. Looked great. But im dammed if im going to pay £107.00 for a second hand pair of shoes.

They are Norwegians mate.

As for cords i have always worn them since i was about 15. Levi and Wrangler ones, i must admit i do prefer the Wrangler blubell cords. My favourite colours are beige or a wine colour. But i have brown, which are now nicely faded to a dark beige, Bottle green and black also. Must admit i usually wear them with desert boots or monkey boots. But are good kit and always will be for me.

Makes it even better to wear them now. biggrin.gif

Thanks everyone for the info on the sta-prests. I think i have a good idea of the the 69 style now.
Also googled this thread for sta-prest. So much information here unbelievable.
Here's some more additional info on the side pockets with a very good picture:

I ended up getting the DM Drury in oxblood the other day.  Wore them out a couple nights over the weekend and so far, so good.  My only complaint is that they are a bit loose, the size down was way too tight in the toes though.  I think an insole will take care of this, how are the Dr. Martens insoles compared to something you'd pick up at the drugstore?

^^^ I like the DM insole. Nice thing is because you buy them to size of boot they fit perfect without any cutting and trimming. Price wise about the same as the better drugstore insoles so better to go with DM ones. The cheap drugstore insoles are garbage and not worth the $3

Thanks for the advice, do you buy the same size insole as the boot that is too large, or do you size down on the insole?

same size as the boot.

They come up occasionaly on Ebay mate. But they always fetch top money. Noddy is your best bet as he has some great vintage contacts.

Dave Hill, the guitarist from Slade, comes into my workplace now and again and I always end up chatting to him. I saw him today and showed him a page from this thread with a picture of Slade. He seemed interested, so I wrote down the link and said that you'd all love it if he dropped in and joined the discussion. Hopefully he'll join up and post!

He said that Slade all had long haircuts, and pretty girls following them around. The management suggested they all get haircuts to join/start a new style (he'd have to clarify this for me) and all of the pretty girls weren't particularly impressed. Interesting guy, and always very good to talk to.

It would be interesting to hear what he has to say about their short time jumping on the Skinhead band wagon in the 60s, None of the Skinheads around London had herd of Slade around 68/69,

I was only aware of them around late 71 when the Skinhead thing in London was well finished,

One bloke i would love to have a chat to is Stuart Goddard { Adam Ant } Who was a Original skinhead who also got in the Country Club, Belzise Pk at the same time as us Kilburn Skinheads, The lad still lives around the same area. If you read his book he gives a couple of pages to the Originals.
