Just takes a bit of patience 🤓

The trick with Gitman Vintage is to wait for the sales - shirts that normally hit £160 will go down to a ton - BEST shirts out there for me at the moment .

This fella has a nice one on eBay as well as some Ivy League items that may be of interest.

A very odd name for a shirt manufacturer Kennington.
Branding in clothing is normally aspirational- Paris, Milan, 5th Avenue, Jermyn Street etc.
Kennington in the 60s was a drab inner city South London district....

DJ, i've got the Loakes Royal. But, one or two years after i bought them (in London), i discovered the Florsheim Lexington in a shop (in Paris), and they look much much better IMO ! They are thinner, smarter, i would definitely recommend the Burgundy ones, the color is superb.

The only downside: they are probably Made in India while the Loakes are Made in England. The Loakes might be sturdier.

Now it is a matter of personal taste and preference too.

I purchased a new pair of the Florsheim last year and was sorely disappointed, they were indeed made in India and the cost to quality ratio was not in my favor. I have a pair from the 60's that were infinitely superior. The Loakes look like a better option IMHO.

Thanks guys, i think i will buy the loakes if they are much better quality then, i would rather have shoes that last at a higher price.

Yes i think AYP is right about the quality. Loake is better. But the Florsheims look good indeed and are a tad cheaper.
DJ, another option, if you want to stay in this price range, is to wait for the next sales. I remember Ed found some Cheaneys at a great price (made for M&S) last year, and a friend found some Barkers at the last winter sales.

Picked up a pair of Tesco indigo selvedge jeans off ebay for £11 (new). They're straight-leg, and plain. For some reason they've also got the selvedge-y bit on the top of the ticket-pocket and the top of the back pockets as well as the leg-seam. Not a fan of the pocket 'selvedge', so I'll be getting busy with the Singer sorting that straight out.

Eleven quid and from Tesco, so I ain't expecting too much.

The showy pocket selvedge is a near-certain sign that you got yourself a pair of fake selvedge jeans:

And indeed, they're sold as 'faux selvedge' elsewhere on ebay:

As you say yourself: eleven quid from Tesco...

Yeah, that'd be about right. First pair of jeans I've bought/worn in 15 years (strictly a prest or mohair man since my 30s) and they're toot. Still, £11, can't grumble

I think they are selvedge, I think it's different to what the rawr denim site is saying is fake. I just think tesco see that people look for selvedge these days so they produce them, to be a bit OTT with the coin and back pocket exposed selvedge.

Well, the other ebay page I linked describes them as "faux selvedge hem detail" and "please note this is made to look like selvedge denim".

Usually, they'll just tape some selvedge onto the bottom few inches of a non-selvedge jeans.
