I'm reminded that by mid 1970 the mainstream mail-order catalogues in the UK were beginning to catch up with skinhead-girl styles (well too late, LOL!), and there was a picture in a catalogue (maybe Littlewoods) of two girls posing in Trevira suits with short skirts, looking suitable glum and aggressive in front of a railway engine or something. I'd love to find that pic!

Yeah but a tad longer, i have reall straight/fine dark blonde hair so it has to be a decent length before i can manipulate it.

I think an ''842'' on me would kind of look like a crew cut on me due to the texture of my hair.

This is probably another 842 cut. It also looks like parts are shaved in.

Hey, what's wrong with shitty tatts?!!  I presume most people here have a couple-two-t'ree of those!  :D

Speaking of all this haircut pedantry, I usually go for a 4-2-1, which is sort of a shorter version of the "college boy"/8-4-2.  My hair is trained to part to my right, so even this short it naturally has the 70/30 split.  Very smart, understated, and not extreme-looking, if I do say so myself, haha.

I'm from SF too. I was part of the Santa Cruz Centurians in the 80s and early 90s.

Funnily enough I tried to find a camouflage kilt when shopping the other day.
Didn't see any...boom boom

Found this on the web, captioned 'Manchester skinheads, 1970'. However, there's something a bit too regimented about them for 1970, and different age groups posing in the same picture strikes me as unusual, too. Also, second left has got a badge pinned to his braces.

So I'd say early revival period (maybe 1978-80?) before the widescale descent into paramilitaria and boneheadism. What do you reckon?
