( I had the opposite problem, i.e. I couldn't stop the alerts. It took a wee while to take place. I'd persevere )

Apologies if this has been posted before. The 28 Sep 1969 skinhead girls' readers letter to the Sunday Times that Wyngarde reads out in the beginning contains some (local) style details... including "hair that is short on top with long back and sides", "no makeup", and "skirts that are long by today's standards". They wrote in from Great Bookham, Surrey.

I believe it has been mentioned here before-- as it piqued my interest and I went and sought it out. Weird album but cool little bit there.

Haha, somewhere this is the authoritative 'skinhead bible'.

So not a great deal of love lost from me, always remember the look I got when the bloke asked my name lol, Skrewdriver playing in the background lol. But 'Spy Kids' ffs and Spirit of '69, that is just another sort of bullshit I would not have wanted much to do with, had it even existed back then.

Got ripped off a couple of times by "the resort" for a couple T shirts and some braces. Called them and complained. That was a waste of time.

Have you seen that godawful 'Northern Soul' movie that came out a couple of years ago? It was interesting for the fashions, if not for much else. Apparently, the director Elaine Constantine used to be a skinhead revivalist (pictured below in 1982), so one would think she took some care investigating the fashions.

One thing I noticed is they were wearing donkey jackets as a fashion item. So here's your chance to do likewise, yankmod!

Fair enough, but her movie is the 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' of music flicks.

Has anyone bought from Upsett Clothing out of Mexico City? They have some smart looking button downs fairly cheap, and a couple nice jumpers.
