Not bad. Speaking of coats and jackets. Sheepskin were not very Common here. Too expensive.
Some skins wore levi's jean jacket with white sheep wool lining and collar. Think they are called sherpa jackets. Did you wore them too?

Socks....I remember seeing lads wearing red socks, and some wearing blue ones (as I mentioned before Rovers wont wear red ).

The question I want to ask is those towelling socks were they later ? my girlfriend says they were more 80s,but I am sure I had them early 70s.

I know they did get very popular in the early 80s and then they disapeared,i haven't seen a pair for years ( I don't miss them that much ).

Funny thing is when something just disappears you don't notice at first ( well I don't ),we said this the other day about Burberry check 10 years ago you saw kids wearing it a lot but I cant remember the last time I saw anyone wearing it....same as baseball caps.

Doc Marten boots were popular for years after skinheads died out in 71sh,people just carried on wearing them until 74 ? then punks started wearing them again 76 and they stayed popular into the 80s....I have to say since then the only people I have noticed wearing them here are young student girls.

I must say, rather nice weather right now given that one can wear a harrington. It really is a nice jacket, but far from practical in Sweden. It tends to be too cold or to warm. It really works best in spring and early autumn, and it's not really every year those occur. wink.gif

Towelling socks, wore them a lot late 70's and into the 80's, mostly white, went thru loads, as they never lasted long.

Nova check ( i think that's what it's called ) like you say popular 10 yrs ago, with chav's etc, i would imagine anyone wearing it now would be snorted at by there counterparts on the streets, all youth fashions/cults move on, evolve and change.

Baseball caps or a flattie as my eldest calls them, still worn but not as much as they were a while back.

Marten's, never really went away, peaks and troughs, worn by allsorts

White toweling socks, That's what we all wore in the 80s. Wouldn't dare today.

About 12 years ago I was talking with a bloke a lot younger than me who had become a skinhead in the 80s,he was telling me that sometime ( late 80s I suppose ) he had walked past a school during the day wearing a pair of white towelling socks,he said all the little kids in the playground were pointing at him and calling him Michael Jackson !.

I still think that they appeared early 70s...agree with Basset they weren't hard wearing ( especially when wearing boots ).

All that tartan makes me think Bay city rollers ( or BCRs as my GF calls them, apparently she liked them when she was 8 or 9).

I read a story on Shed end website last week,by a Chelsea bloke who wore a blue tartan scarf to a game and got the p1ss ripped out of him about was he a Rollers fan, probably be ok nowadays.

I always associate towelling socks with Cortinas,Farrahs,Essex and Spandau Ballet (Whatever year that was?) for some reason.
