Did anyone see any reports about the Isle of Wight scooter rally ? they said on the BBC website that its the biggest scooter rally in the world..i was there in 95 ( not for the rally ) and i have to say that the scooters were very well done up...there were some that looked just as i remember them and others with themed murals that were also eye catching ( IMO ),i know a lot of people on here say scooters werent skinhead but i can definitely say that they were here.

Clouseau.Thank you for the Lee Rider info,i think that you are right i need to be able to try on different types,i think that i will wait until i go on my London trip....Did you check those GTH jackets out ?,i notice that there is another firm advertising leather jackets on e bay Custom Jackets they say that they will customise one of their jackets for you,so they would make an Ma1 in brown leather, they have many styles but of course what the quality is i dont know.

Yes, i had a look at the GTH. i must say the German air force pilot jacket looks really good.

Clouseau.I liked that one,a bit unusual i thought..they are usually in grey ( not so interesting IMO ) but i like the black one, maybe when i go to London i will have a look in Silvermans.

I agree with Ed on this one.The writer was being  derogatory by  referencing a term that was an insult, "gangsters' Moll" Lets not forget, the media uses a derisive tone when writing about subcultures. Can't have youngsters creating their own culture. They want them "towin the line" in the mainstream consumer culture.

Were they taking Mollies with their Mollies to pull the all nighters?

Quite!

Clouseau, it wasn't the origin of the word I was calling into question, just the fact that I'd never heard the term used of skinhead girls.

There was certainly a big scooter gathering at Brighton over the weekend, perhaps IOW too. Scooters were not skinhead transport in my area but I always liked them too. I love to see one that has been restored faithfully to the original spec myself. There are loads of pics and videos of the Brighton event on Facebook and the Mod Generation: http://www.themodgeneration.com/photo/brighton-2013-090?context=latest https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/1014223_10151612427688479_195425490_n.jpg

Can't make it this time, Colin as I'm on holiday. I'll get to another one in the autumn.
