McDermott.IMO your take on the hot weather look is good, mine is far scruffier, cargo shorts and t/shirt or polo shirt and monkey boots ( or trainers ).Looking at your shirt untucked reminds me of the summer of 70 or 71,everyone down here was wearing their shirts untucked with sta prest,i remember my Gran sayingthat we all objected to wearing school uniform and then all dressed exactly the same ! of course she conveniently forgot that we were told to wear school uniform and that we chose how to dress outside of school.

McDermott. I agree with the rules having to be bent bit too,hot weather or cold ! when i see people walking about in the freezing cold in a t t/shirt and /or shorts i just think "what a tit ".

smart cotton style shorts and Sperry topsider deck shoes. usually untucked Madras shirt etc. Deffinately not Skinhead, leaning towards Ivy however..
Sometimes the rules have to be bent a bit.. Smart enough.

That's pretty much the kit I wear during Boston summers. At 90% humidity, 30+ degrees, trousers aren't a smart option. Brooks Brothers or J Crew do some nice Khaki shorts which I'll wear with a seersucker or madras buttondown s/s shirt and boat shoes or sometimes navy or white Superga plimsols. Defo not skinhead but a clean, smart look in the sweltering heat, defo bordering on Ivy or at least New England chic.

Botolph.I agree with what you say about the summer look. One of the reasons for my scruffier summer wear is cargo shorts,i wear them for practical reasons too,i seem to carry so much "stuff" these days..wallet,car and house keys, mobile phone (sometimes two ) work keys, glasses, change, sunglasses ( not too often) its worse on holiday with passport too.Sometimes the GF ends up with more of my stuff in her handbag than her own.

Likewise McDermott.I started to wear Sperry's when I moved to the South Coast in '74.It was a Sailing town and they were pretty much a uniform worn by everyone from the yachties to

the greengrocer. They have been my Summer shoe ever since, though I have had Sebago in the past and now wear Frye Sully's which I prefer due to the extra eyelet, higher stance, and range of leathers/colours available.

Botolph will know what I mean by Nantucket Reds, which I also wear in the summer along with linen Guayabera style shirts.

Gramps. It's not revival. It is original.I can't remember where I got it.McDermott and Botolph.Your summer wear is def Ivy League. You look like every Frat boy who terrorized me as a "Weirdo" youth. But,a good alternative look for a Skinhead Summer.McDermott you look like your in Spain from the background.TA

Mr Knightley, if the pic is dated 1963, i think they might be Originals of the Drugstore gang. Any indication in the book?

I'm sticking to my guns on that one Yankmod.

Trainers with a suit is in excusable, under any circumstances.

The cut of the suits, the Hair, everything about the pic screams Revival to me.

Any other opinions on it Lads?????

Theres a lot of miss labelling of pics on the internet (wiki is the worst place)

But the last thing that screams revival about it, is that its the fuckin Lambrettas!!!!!!!

I'll willingly accept your apologies, via Mail, email, Text, phone or any other medium ;)

I'm afraid you are right Gramps it is indeed The Lambrettas.

Big Up Gramps.I am a person who has had to apologize constantly in my life and don't have a problem being wrong (thats how i've learned things, admitting when I'm wrong) This pic was posted on an "Originals" site but as you say the web is full of mistakes.Personally I thought they was scruffy lookin Mods.I know the Lambrettas music but never saw a photo.Apologies to you Gramps, your posts are always insightful and entertaining. McDermott and Botolph,My remark about the Frat boy look wasn't an insult.Honestly it is about the only Smart style for the summer. The boat shoes I will never wear again(had them late 70's and a pair about 15 years ago) No support. They was made for standing on the deck of a yacht in turbulent water. This is not a recommended appropriation of gear in my experience.Gramps,I'de buy you a Pint if we was in da pub.TA

No Problem Yankmod, it was all a bit tongue in cheek tbh.

But yeah, believe nothing on the internet ;)
