It is just à question of dosing the elements, and to have a certain sense of smartness.

I think the model of the 60's was the teens and early 20's.

Quick pic of me and Basset from Margate. Had some later in the club with Brownie and Mr Twist Tag but they didn't come out (faulty flash cubes!). Will post when I get better ones off someone else.
Good crack with Colin and Aces & Eights.
Just to make sure there's no confusion, this wasn't the same do as the one discussed. Pure 60s reggae & soul with some traditional looking skinheads (and not too many face tatts!). Great weekend.

Never too old for decent jeans .... Buttons

Its a OI thing perhaps ?   this weekend i saw a Skinhead at a vintage festival ( 40's ) in tight jeans ( no 2 crop ) , big boots and braces and a japanese  teenager down portobello rd wearing tasselled wejuns , white levi cords and a short sleeved blue oxford with a college boy barnet ..  no suprises who looked better .

I only spent the Saturday afternoon at the Margate venue but enjoyed good conversation, good banter with good people from this thread.

Great company - Bassett, Buttons and Colin, not forgetting Colin's wife Susan and Buttons girlfriend (I don't know her name as I couldn't understand a word Buttons was saying) !!!

Good craic

F*CK ME, FLYFRONTED - I SWEAR I THOUGHT EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!

I doubt that very many of these were around in 1969/70, 'cos the truth is, we didn't dress like that. (The clips from Brighton are even worse - they are definitely playing Oi! in one of the clips)

Having seen Margate mentioned on here, I thought I'd look it up on Youtube - just couldn't relate to it at all but decided I'd keep my opinions to myself (who am I to tell people what they should and shouldn't wear.....) - however, it appears that a few of you had the same thoughts as me.

roytonboy.I wish you hadnt mentioned the Brighton videos,i had to look...oh dear oh dear.Anyway i am going to try and be positive there was one still of a middle aged man wearing a suit jacket with a button up top pocket ( no flap ) i had never seen that on a jacket before.I have to say that i dont remember the girls wearing Doc Marten boots, fishnet tights or having those extreme haircuts, the only women i saw with their hair dyed mauve were old age pensioners ( some had light blue ).The clothes i do remember the girls wearing were suits usually light green, with long (ish) jackets also leather coats navy blue or green .

Yes, it was the old beer mugs that I noticed as well. You don't seem to see them much today. I had a pint of Peroni last Sunday in my local (it was hot) in a tall glass with the Peroni brand on the side.A good looking glass that I was tempted to take back home with me.
