I agree about how they can look, but look at Steve McQueen in his? They look very different when worn with an oxford BD Lambswool crew, nice pair of trousers and decent smooths.

That how i've done it for the recent years and have felt comfortable in it.

Put it with a Fred perry and jeans though and you are back to square one.

Thanks Gsvs5. You noticed like me it's not the same model. This other Alpha on Ebay hasn't got the pocket flaps and has, i think, an orange lining.

There must have been two different models in 1968. One with sage green (or navy) lining, one with orange. ( Following the sometimes contradictory Originals conversation on the forum, apparently there were two distinct models.)

On another subject, i post a personal picture of my three button jacket. It's a RL suit i bought at least twenty years ago. The trouser is dead and buried.

The link to the Ebay one i posted is the Vintage Series Repro with NO pocket flaps. It also has radio wire tabs, helmet clip tab on breast,USAF insignia and  Green lining.

They also did what they called a '68 Vintage with pocket flaps, orange lining and the red "bypass pin" tape hanging from the sleeve pocket .Just like vintage Levis,It's a very confusing minefield !

Asolutely! Minefield! My mistake about the lining. I must say i prefer the '68 with pocket flaps... And no USAF logo.

Cheers.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 80

This '68 version i like the best indeed: pocket flaps, green lining, and no logo... I would love it in blue.

Just to add,I can't find it now,but I have the original Alpha company catalog somewhere, and it shows a different jacket to the one actually distributed.I have seen the jacket you say you like posted with a description of the other model !

I believe Alpha may have done a "Bait and Switch" on these repro models and ill-informed distributors went along ,clueless.

This is from the Fall 2010 series. It is style  MJM2120C1 in the Alpha catalogue (page 8 ).

http://issuu.com/alphaindustries/docs/f10_core_catalog

It was listed only as available in Sage. However if you do a Google search for that style number, you come up with this:

The rule of thumb here is don't believe everything you see and call/visit the vendor first. They probably know less than we do !

Link to where they used to sell it, with details about the model :

i think the in the past blue model that Browniecj recently refered to looked like this one, in navy.

(Un)fortunately they had my size. Went to Blue In Green shop in Soho(nyc) to buy a pair of Warehouse selvedge jeans and clocked that bastard hanging on the wall. The Alpha repros with nylon lining are not a patch on these. I've owned a few Alpha repro MA-1's over the last 20 or so years and the Real McCoy's is like comparing a suit of armor to a cheesecloth t-shirt. Fire-resistant green/grey nylon outer, wool/cotton mix futter, and green/grey nylon inner. Absolutely beautiful jacket and if you can swing the price tag, get one.
My only gripe is that I need to get the sleeves shortened for my stubby arms. A real corker of a jacket to be certain.
Would certainly look nice with the above described ensemble of buttondown/lambs wool/trousers/smooths, but I would rock it with jeans and boots, too... Then again I'm of the late-'80s/early '90s skinhead contingent. shog[1].gif

Apparently the Alpha repro i appreciate has a wool/cotton interlining, wool collar & cuffs, etc.

Anyway Mr Mikkel Rude rocks :

Nice MA1 and loafers. Neat.

They offered to special order for me but I was not sure on the size?I would love to get one as you say , to the Alphas it is night and day

Good luck with the diet Ed.Secret is Don't Eat and what you do eat should be boringly healthy.(especially the Greens) Nice stuff on J Press site Botolph.Noticed the BD's have a label that looks similar to Brooks Bros.Obviously imitating.I bought a Flight Jacket from Army/Navy (upper Boylston st.) in 91.Blue with orange lining(nothing to do with Skin or Punk.Utilitarian choice).Great jacket, wish I still had it(have no idea what happened to it)
