MOM, about the Uniqlo mac, it's a bit longer in reality, with a removable lining.

Found this

picture on the Net. I know he's a 1979 revivalist, but he's got style. Very suedehead. That brings me to a question for the Originals. When did you start wearing tassel loafers? What brand? I think you mentioned Royals, but what other make,  and when did they appear with DM sole? I know MOM post a pic of loafers, a few hundred pages ago, but it seems we didn't really explore this subject yet...

Around early `70-Bass Weejuns I think.Do not know when the thicker Soles came out.

Welcome Ladybird.

i've looked at that Paynes site before Ed,but it seems there are a lot more photos now.Obviously they must have had a "No Jeans" policy. The photo taken from above of everyone dancing in front of the Band ( Big ' E' ? ) is a classic.I remember seeing Major Lance back then and was surprised that his band were all white guys.I think they were called 'Tam o Shanter' IIRC? Must have been local session players hired for the gigs. The photos remind me a lot of my local clubs and mates ,where on any given night for a few years you could have photographed a group of 20-30 people and it would be all the same faces but with gradually changing hair styles and collar styles.

Hello to Clouseau and Ladybird !

It's just a personal thing, but I hated it when DM started to expand their line and put there sole on everything-particularly Loafers and Dealer Boots.I realise it was just shrewd business, but for me they had lost credibility.Whenever I see any DM's except boots being worn with the rest of the gear it makes me cringe.IMO Royals,Loafers,Jodphurs etc should only be with a leather sole.

My first Tassles Loafers were around 1971 I think? Similar to these. I remember that having the horizontal Heel Seam was quite important.Mine may have been Saxone?

AppleMark

We didn't know of the Bass Weejun brand in our neck of the woods, and the ones I was wearing had a less rounded toe than the Weejuns.I think as far as Loafers go,Weejuns are low on the ladder for quality.I have had a few pairs of Weejuns and others over the years and found the best to be a pr I picked up in Majorca in 1976.

Clouseau. I saw on youtube recently a guy doing a comparison of a few different makes of loafers,i think it was Mod shoes or Mod shoes Uk, it might be interesting for you.

GsVs5. I sgree with you about the DM soles on loafers etc,in fact i will go a bit further and say that i hate the boots now as well ! I cant remember any specific make for tassle loafers, but i do remember seeing Bass Weejuns (without tassles) for the first time and then people cutting the tassles off of their loafers and then Weejuns taking over.

Gsvs5, you are a purist, and that's why i love this forum!

The first tassel loafers i saw on 2nd wave skinheads were with DM sole, that's why i asked. But i must say the picture you post is fantastic!

I noticed the "Larkin" by Bass for a while, and they are very nice. APC makes good ones too.

Cerneabbas, thanks: in fact i saw the video: between Loakes, Bass, and maybe Delicious Junction if i remember well...

Cheers

I am also looking for a raincoat,i want one with a removable lining. There are some raincoats on e bay uk, Henley and Knight,i am not too keen buying clothes that i havent seen in a shop from e bay, they can always seem to make pictures look better than the real thing. I do like the pocket flaps on the Crombie raincoat but not the top pocket or the price.

Lately I have been trying to date items of clothing to particular years, what would you consider pairing with this to the year it would fit? Loafers and ankle socks? Mary Janes?

Thank you for the welcomes, and hello all.

I think it's fair to say that about most of the gear we cherish. It's the old adage of "Not what you wear but...."
