After a bit of a search online I noted that Sam Bear on Russel St stocks them so I made the trip up at lunchtime and low and behold they did! They seemed quite chunky and rustic, with a rather thick sole. That said, I have not much else to compare them to. Any other alternatives?

Oh, and welcome to the forum Lowly Public Servant - I would agree with all the welcoming comments so far, epically fxh's comments.

Not local, but I do like the Loake Camden desert boots, from their 1880 line, especialy in blue suede -

I order Loake from www.brogueshoes.co.uk - he's a top bloke and ships to Aus quickly. The blue Camden was going to be my next purchase (already have the Banks, Trapper and Bayswater). Note they are a slightly wide fitting (G).

Saw a bloke wearing these the other day in the city. Brought back memories, I had a pair when I was in my 20s. Wore them everywhere.

I managed to pick a pair of these up last year:

After reading bhall41's post I instakopped those navy Camden's. Ended up getting them from Pediwear because Brogue Shoes no longer have them on their website... And Herring didn't have size 13G. I had been thinking about some blue desert boots for a while. Here goes

Gents, thoughts on tasseled loafers to be worn here in Australia?

Not with a suit, but in a more casual context (trousers/jeans with jacket etc.) and something in a chocolate suede for instance.

I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea but was interested in your thoughts/opinions.

Tassles tend to be a bit of an American thing - originally English though I believe. Not something you see out here often, but a really nice pair of suede tassel loafers would look great with a pair of fitted jeans or chinos IMO.

Something like this would look smart.

Agreed Prince. They're actually the pair I had in mind.

Speaking of organized crime, the only people I see wearing those are bikies.

Check out David Jones and Herringbone (London Court) for studs/cufflinks. Also check out antique stores, notably the one in the Trinity Arcade towards St Georges Tce.

Low-cut waistcoats are not the easiest thing to find in Perth, I'm still looking for one and have been for the last year or so - online and offline.

Buy your "tux shirt" online. Get your tailor to measure you if you don't know your measurements/size. If you don't want to order online you will be looking at very low quality items if your looking at stuff on retail in Perth unless you go to Parker & Co or a MTM tailor such as Joseph Anthony in Claremont. Retailers take advantage of the fact that many "tux shirts" are only going to be worn once and virtually discarded due to the decline of traditional black-tie (events).

I will check out Herringbone (old Phillipe store) and the antique store. Thanks.

I was planning to get my tux shirt from modern tailor but i have 3 "Failed" shirts so far so i might give up.

Any decent on-line tailor would knock that up easily.

One of the guys at work has his suits and shirts made by tailors in Asia through a online site based in Sydney. Apparently this guy that runs the site uses tailors all over Asia and my colleague reckons they can make almost anything , it's good quality and at an unbeatable prices compared to anyting else in Australia.

I must admit all his suits look good (one of them in particular is a really good looking suit) and I'm thinking of having them make my next one

I can ask him for the link if you like
