I managed to snag an excellent pair of gloves from DJs around 10 years ago from Milana and they're still in top-notch shape today. Have held up very well. I can't speak for the quality of today's stock, though.

I am a 38 and I don't think they had anything smaller although I recommend you go into an R&G store and try on its jackets as they size differently - I am a "97".

If you fit the 97 and like the design (see photos) let me know as I will be back there on the 2nd buying for another member

For some reason DJs at Doncaster has a better range of english shoes than the city store. Don't remember if they have Churches.

The only club collared shirts I've ever seen here are from the supposed trendy fashion forward stores like oxford and saba. Point collar shirts should still be very common, I think, although yes they are becoming less popular now days. I prefer spreads myself actually.

Thanks for the offer elvish. Does R&G have any in solids? I might go down to the store tomorrow while I also go check out ted baker and hugo boss factory stores.

Working around that way I used to call into the Boss/ Baker etc outlet in Preston a lot. I gave up. It was vastly overpriced for almost everything and very fashiony - look at the typical shopper there. Although if you are the Boss sample size then their sample sportscoats aren't too bad. R&G seem strange to me - not cheap but weird coats - sort of unstructured or badly made or both. Weird checks and sort of some chinese faux tweed? You'd do better spending a leisurely day doing the rounds of the good op shops looking for a decent sportscoat. You'll pay between $5 and tops $20 and might even pick up a Harris Tweed plus a good silk tie or two. Sometimes even unworn mtm quality shirts. NB:: R&G is a NZ company owned by Hellaby. "R&G operates in the very competitive upmarket menswear fashion sector which is highly susceptible to changing fashion trends and economic and retail cycles. "In addition, Hellaby believes that after several years of growth through opening new stores in New Zealand and Australia, there are limited opportunities for future growth of the business." When Hellaby bought R&G six years ago it was losing money. Mr Houldsworth said the sale would improve the balance between Hellaby's industrial, automotive and retail investments. Hellaby shars were up 4c to $4.54 in a strong market.

Thanks, but I was at Donny the other day but didn't see any Church's - only saw a couple of pairs of Loakes and Lloyds.

I think I did alright at the Boss outlet earlier this year when I picked up a Boss selection three piece grey suit for $800 during one of their sample sales - (I am a 40R, so do alright at sample sales).

Where do you typically hunt around in Melbourne? I have only braved a few local op shops here and there and find nothing but old shabby double breasted blazers and rather flat and dusty Fletcher Jones suits.

Thats what I wear - whats wrong with it - seems to fit in with what those usa guys post on here.

I just get the jackets shortened, sleeves shortened, waist made too tight, pants shortened to above my ankle, pants narrowed until too tight, turn up 4" of cuff, slip on my suede triple monks, pop my grandmas old scarf in my breast pocket, bring my Hermes custom green breast wallet out of its hermetically (note small word play) sealed storage at the bank strong room, and away I go. Looks great. People at the pokies room at the local RSL often comment on how great I look. In summer I go stylish casual - I ditch the tie and I ditch the socks - the women at the RSL love the bare ankles. I can't tell you how many compliments I get.

For anyone who's interested in street clothing http://www.tresbienshop.net/en/ has a big sale as of midnight last night. I've bought few things for the coming winter, it seems like a lot of sizes and pieces have sold out in the 16 hours the sale was on.

lol. After a visting rellos in Preston over Christmas can confirm that this look is absolutely all the range in Melbourne's north.

In case anyone's interested I just passed Strickland & Son's at the top end of Bourke in Melbourne who have a bunch of stuff on sale. Suits are either full or half canvassed (not sure) at around $695 and some at least are in decent fabrics. Not a lot of small sizes left. Cut is fairly standard english and a drop 6 apparently, but quite contemporary. Also some hand made silk 7-fold ties at I think $79 from memory, some of which looked quite nice.

The other trend that is popular with formal wear in Australia is the bloody pick stitching on rack suits. Every single suit I have checked at Peter Jackson is pick stitched, same story with Saba. Bloody hate that crap.

I also dislike spread collars.
