Sator - and I suspect that you are well aware of this already - for better or for worse, that Americanism has been well and truly adopted here in Australia. Showing my age a bit, people were referring to dinner jackets as "tuxedos" when I was at high school and university a couple of decades ago, and I'm sure that the term has only become more common since that time. Unfortunately, it seems pretty much ubiquitous nowadays.

Not as far as I can remember. Most of the time I hear the term dinner jacket being used, with tuxedo becoming slowly more common as time progresses.

Even the Kelly Country ad on TV talks about dinner suits.

If you can (seeing as this is going to be next year) buy one. At least then you can have alterations done and make it fit perfectly, or if you can use one of the 2/3 tailors we have in Perth to have one made for you. It's your wedding day mate!

Plus whenever you need it (anniversaries, parties, etc) you won't need to hire another one. I regret not having one made pretty badly, especially when it comes time for university dinners.

+1, though Journeyman is right, we are becoming more American, especially in speech terms, all the time. Still, we here should know better and avoid Americanisms.

Nice to see you post here again, Sator. It's been awhile.

Nothing wrong with the Italian wool Rembrandt pants. I got two pairs for AUD360 recently. Excellent quality and easy to wear in summer time with a blazer. Very fine wool like 150s because they crease a bit like linen when you take them off and need a slight press.

Although personally I think the sans sock is a great look. Why would you wear driver's with socks??

I didn't mean they were up with the greats - more that for the money they seem ok.

I am pleased for you.

I would, however, note that women are not often good arbiters of tasteful dressing for males.

NB: careful she wasn't faking it and is really horrified and will soon take off (or simply have a fling) with some man (as opposed to boy) who covers his ankles.

Perhaps it's been so many years since your legs and ankles have seen the shining sun that they are now so blindingly white, everytime you look at them the glare is so unforgiving you can't help but look away in horror. Perhaps this constant reminder causes you to assume all mens legs and ankles look this way?

Am I right or am I right?

I want to find a good dry clearner, preferably one that knows how to press a suit properly (i.e. by hand and not flattening lapels or blowing seams etc.) Any suggestions? I note that jeffryd (of http://www.tuttofattoamano.blogspot.com/) doesn't think that using inflatable busts is that good an idea either when it comes to pressing suits.

Yes, i may end up purchasing one from the B&S forum. Some people here suggested Favazzo G & A and Final Touch for alterations. I used Final Touch twice and the work was very sloppy. I think people suggested Final Touch based on their fake* google reviews.

*Im guessing their fake reviews based on their grouped around the same date and keep dropping names in the reviews.

Perhaps, but I think there are others just as good, if not better, for a similar price. But yes, just ok would probably describe their services.
