Yes I looked at the chinos - $250 seems a bit excessive.

However I did want to cut off a bit of the grey flannel from a suit they had and put it in my pocket as a comfort blanket al la Peanuts.

Has anyone got measurements on the Peter Christian chinos and moleskins? I suppose I could email and politely ask them myself.

The go-to shops for work wear, like Myer/Ron Bennet etc, stock 90% rubbish. Until this changes Herringbone can charge what ever they like. The difference between wearing a Myer suit and a Herringbone suit is obvious from 100+ metres away.
Gradually men are starting to see the benefits from appearing professional but too many are too slow to change and some even shun dressing well. It appears the connection between their pay/promotion prospects and dress/bearing has not been made.
Amen to all of that.

While on the subject of HB shirts, do they only come in one sleeve length? I went to their Bridge St Richmond sale earlier in the year and the shirts there only had one sleeve length.

Yes I believe only one sleeve length - my issue, apart from the price of their shirts, is that the sleeves are almost always too short for my knuckle-draggers.

To answer a question posed earlier, HB shirting fabrics are quite often "made in Italy" or "woven in England" - though of course when the shirts are made up in Vietnam the margin on a $200+ shirt is still fantastic for HB.

My question about high-end RTW shirts has always been, why wouldn't you pay 10-20% more and get bespoke? Maybe this is more of an issue for me as rarely do RTW shirts fit me well. Always too much gut room and often too short in the torso...

Feels cheap and nasty just like the Asian mill it probably came from. (Not being racist Japanese Cotton is meant to be of high standard)

If you are going to drop close to $200 on a shirt add a little more and go and see Charlse Nahkle in Parramatta. You do pay a little more but the quality of fabric he gets from the UK, Italy and Switzerland. You also get a shirt that fits to your shape.

This is not a free plug for Charlse as his shirts speak for themselves as does that nasty Herringbone Shirt which thankfully I did not pay top dollar for.

Herringbone suits on the other hand seems to get some reviews.

I agree when looking at a few the other day in the Surry Hills outlet store. I have thrfited a few HB shirts and they are 100% better than the ones I saw in the shop that day.

Well that's a deal breaker for my 15.5 inch neck and 36 inch arms...

I am going to give nialma's personal service a shot here in Melbourne for a tailored shirt. I can't be bothered with the online stuff but nothing fits me in HB, Farage etc. Will let you know how it goes. Don't know if they do it in Sydney though.

Who's "nialma" and where in Melbourne is it/he/them?

I checked out the Henry Bucks sale earlier in the week. As others have mentioned, slim pickings and still terribly over-priced. I did, however, manage to pick up a navy and silver check Drakes tie for $95 Regarding the Herringbone chinos, I purchased a pair of their cotton trouser last summer for ~$300. Instantly regretted it. Construction is nice, but not $300 nice.

I wasn't aware they had such a service in Melbourne. Care to share the details?

Has anyone ever popped into the menswear store on Chapel st opposite the Freedom Machine? They seem to stock a lot of products from http://www.messagerie.it/ Some of the jackets looked nice, not sure about the construction.

If RTW fits well enough, why pay 10 - 20% more for bespoke?

I've tried bespoke shirts. Ultimately I was dissatisfied. I don't have the time or patience to micromanage a tailor to get what I want.

Every time I walk out of Herringbone I feel like a million bucks despite a few minor fit issues.

I should add that I have Herringbone shirts from when they were made in Australia (with the H logo on the gusset), Pakistan, Japan and now Vietnam and there isn't any real difference in quality. I like the made in Vietnam ones the best due to the gauntlet buttons and more tapered sleeves.
