Meaning, the Wingtips, the Reverse Foldover, and the Asymetrical Derby! The quality of construction is my focal point with most shoes.

I definitely agree that most of the styles are short-sighted, and throw-away.

The mocs are just listed at $999 (room to move!), I don't work for Up There, I like the look of them though!

Note: This isn't an attempted plug for my shop/blog, just curious on what everyone thinks! Thanks for reading it though!

Looking at what he has made, I would argue otherwise.

The welting is anything but clean or fine. The heels look like they were put together by a half-blind cobbler. Maybe he's going for a "not very good with my hands" finish, for the sake of fashion, who knows.

I mean, even putting the styling aside, the quality of the finish looks second-rate at best.

I do appreciate the honesty though!

Let's talk Suiting:

I'm being Wed in November, looking for a GREAT tailor, I live near P Johnson... but I need some other suggestions!

Is this Mark from Beggar Man Thief?

If so, thanks for the consistently excellent customer service you've given me. If not, pass that along to Mark, from me.

Hey to everyone else! I've been away for a while..

It's not Mark, (Ben) but I will pass it on!

Thanks for the wonderful compliment!

This Dark cherry Moc has the same Horween Shell Cordovan used on Florsheim by Duckie Brown LW. I paid only $324 shipped for mine(pic on page 653)

I'm definitely not being wed any time soon but I also wouldn't mind a few more suiting option suggestions.

Anything other than P Johnson, Herringbone and R&B that are worth checking out?

Price range = cheaper than P Johnson if possible.

Only other one I can think of in that sort of range which is Strickland & Sons (assuming you're in Melbourne, don't know if they're elsewhere). Their stuff was half or full canvassed last time I checked and seemed reasonable quality, possibly better than R&B and in a similar British silhouette. Not sure if they have a particularly slim cut or not though, and haven't looked at them for quite a while (mainly because nothing OTR fits me well enough so I now go to PJohnson for quality suits).

Thanks. I fear this is the case.

I'm sure a trip to the UK/Italy would turn up some good-value, mid quality, well fitting suits...however with the limited time I have the price to get there basically brings P Johnson back into the picture...

Hmmm.

Mate Hayel and Son are no ripoff and good tailors/alterations people. I have been going to Hayel for years. Like Jimmy said this is an alteration you avoid. What happened ? Surgeons cuffs?

Personally, I love the styles and the quality is second-to-none.

We've (Beggar Man Thief) get a new shipment coming to Melbourne this month which is pretty god-damn exciting!

Best Aussie Shoe Maker?

They are supposed to be well made and he is Lobb trained. He is doing that industrial/used in the foundry thing like the O'Keefe line at Mr Porter.

Brent Wilson has apparently started up a MTM service also. I didn't spend much time asking questions as I was in a rush, but safe to say they would be constructed somewhere in asia. I think prices started around 1200

I also saw in their QVB store fully canvassed suits for 300 on clearance

Advise mucho caution, mate.

Tried them (Brent Wilson Bespoke) before; did not work out well, to say the least.
