I felt like i had to have a whinge, is the state of fashion so dire in Australia that people will LINE UP to goto ZARAs??

I'm still flabbergasted, everytime i leave my place to goto work I see people lined up... ZARA Sydney doesn't even have any of the good stuff.

I also do CMT. Shirts start at $150.00 and ascend according to quality of fabric. The most expensive fabric is priced at $250.00 per shirt. Though I don't even think I am stocking this fabric at the moment. If you order less than 3 shirts per order an additional surcharge of $30.00 is added to the order. neyus - certainly interest from me for a trunk show in Syd in the second half of the year. PM me or post it in the AMembers thread if you intend to make the journey and I'll be sure to pay you a visit if you make it down here.

All the best.

I was in Sydney yesterday for a couple of meetings and managed to *ahem* find the time to pop into Westfield. There were no lines for Zara when I got there so I had a bit of a look around. They had some nice casual stuff. What was great was where all the things were made. This place is truly multicultural, manufactured in Spain, Turkey, Albania etc. Gave me a good chuckle. Wish we had a Bottega store in Melbourne though

Australians have grown accustomed to paying over the odds for clothes manufactured in low cost centres such as China, relative to countries such as the USA or UK. That is probably why a business like Zara potentially stands to make a killing here. Good luck to them - hopefully, it will put pressure on local clothing retailers to pull their heads in.

Personally, I would like to see Zara's posh cousin make an appearance here - Massimo Dutti.

Thanks for that info, neyus. I don't mind where the shoes are made as long as the quality is high. What are the prices like? I sent you an email on this subject, too, btw.

I went into DJs yesterday...you could have shot a gun with most of the staff looking hugely underemployed amidst the mountains of 'tat' as David Dickerson so aptly put it. Admittedly this was around 3PM.

This is BTW the newly renovated 1st floor!

I then went over to the shoe section which has increased the number of brands and had actually become worse than I have ever seen with tacky low rent shoes. A few Loakes and Armanis were drowned by the brands like Stacy Adams etc. Frightening for our most important city retailer.

I then went past Zara walked into see all these women in a frenzy over the Spanish made (?) 'tat' that was everywhere and no sign of any staff though they had guys on the door. I asked where the men's stuff was and the door person said on the 3rd floor. I just left and went home.

I'm a fairly....ok, very slim guy (6ft @ 61kg) so finding decently slim RTW trousers is a bit tricky (and by RTW i mean they'll probably only need a slight inseam adjustment). I made my first foray into Incotex territory not too long ago and even with an 8" cuff opening i felt it was too wide. I may need to bide my time and try to find an "Ultra Slim" pair online.

Work is flexible enough that i can get away with the chino look, even though i prefer sometimes to wear a dressier pair of trousers with no visible top stitching. To be honest though i'm having trouble finding either type in a decent slim shape. Do those of you that wear a slimmer cut order from overseas or is there a local retailer i'm unaware of?

I'm considering the below:
http://www.epauletshop.com/servlet/t...British/Detail
Failing that i'll get my measurements taken and try out the Modern Tailor trouser option and see what they can come up with.

Latenight shopping tomorrow here in Syd so i'll hit up the usual retail options and see what i can find i suppose.

Why don't you get the opening of your trousers slimmed by asking a seamstress or tailor to "narrow the peg?" Just tell them how wide you want the opening to be or get them to pin it. Also make sure they narrow on both seams and not just one.

Try saint Augustine academy or elsom. I wear dress pants that would be no wider than those chinos but they are tailored.

DJ Melbourne does stock some nice Zegna shoes though. Both Z Zegna and mainline.

+1. A quick, simple alteration that should cost $30 or even less.

Overseas, if possible, although postage can be a bit of a killer.

I think that DJs in the southern cities might stock some reasonable polish, so it could be worth having a look.
