The guy that I use is at 447 Collins St (now the Suncorp building) ... its a bit hard to see him from the street as he is below street level.

The Meetup

Thanks to all who attended last Saturday.

I had a good time - especially after two warm Sake at Chocolate Buddha at lunch. Only spoilt by the noise from the bloody Grand Prix.

The Exhibition is interesting if you know a bit about the history and development of mens dress. It also helps to know a bit about materials and construction.

If you haven't read up before hand the exhibition itself is a bit lacking on details and context.

The most exciting bit about the meet is that we will all be invited to at least two weddings in the near future. I look forward to several new threads here on "What Should I wear to my Wedding".

For my next trick I might try to organise a meetup/swap meet in a while to exchange /sell unwanted clothes and opshop finds.

I tell you what. I am going to buy a couple of those Irish Linen Fitzgerald suits at sale time for next Aussie summer.

I reckon my best eBay score last year was a bloke in Mosman that got the wrong size C&J Cliffords (h/mades) and I got them for AUD300 landed.

I could not help myself and picked up a pair of NOS vintage galoshes shaped like 1940s wingtips... the wife did not get it...

. Are those fair prices? I was thinking they're more around $40.

AUD40 is the Sydney price from Fred at Sullivans Wynyard Ramp (rear of station - York St end)

I was going to suggest putting you in touch with the guy that bought it in case it didn't work out for him but he sent me a PM today saying it fit like a glove (I wish that it worked out that way for me - its the second aquascutum trench I've had to move that didn't fit!).

I've got my shoes topy'ed at the Cobbler next to Kids on Collins, between Spencer and King st.

About $40 IIRC.

If you compare Pediwear prices for C&J (with VAT) c.f American Tailors, you'd have to say that they are doing very well for a bricks'n'mortar store in one of the most expensive cities in the world for commercial rents.

American Tailors will also order any item for you from the catalogue, Plal don't stock some models.

Are there any Alden or AE wearers on this thread? I have a couple of questions about conversion of size US to English and and in particular about the AE last #5 and the Barrie last. Also if I take a 10 G in Church's would that be a 10.5 EE in US? I want these, No I am in love with these http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline...ategory=120552 And I know they come on sale a couple of times in the year and if not them the MacNeil would suffice http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline...ategory=120552

Send "ethandesu" a PM - he's a Sydney-based member (although soon to relocate to HK) and he's selling a few pairs of Aldens in a US10.5 in the B&S forum at present. He might be able to give you some sizing advice.
