Quite a lot of wear for something resoled (recently?). Do they provide you with a choice of soles? Was thinking of buying some JR soles.

Kerry, journalism isn't the only area where standards have dropped in the last forty years.

The shoes have had about 5 wears since they were re-soled. Coombs also roughed up the soles on the bench sander before I walked out of the shop.

I doubt they offer more than one kind of leather sole. From initial impressions the new soles are sturdier than the original Carmina soles. I'm sure they can CMT with JR soles if you supply them.

You said the stitching was rough?. I ask because anecdotal evidence is that standards at Coombs have dropped.

Just to clarify, I never said the stitching was rough. The sole stitching would be approximately 3tpi, so that is where the rustic comment comes from. I assume that they didn't go finer as they used the existing welt.

You sure it wasn't '1 stitch per kilometre'?
