Seriously, this is a good cause that benefits us all, and if you are inclined to contribute, you will be most welcome. TIA.
How does one contribute? I for one would love to see that wretched thing gone.
I wonder whether the mods will remove this post considering the derogatory remark or do they just target mental illness.post #66468 of 6794611/26/15 at 9:09pmpost #66469 of 6794611/26/15 at 9:26pm
Why certainly. In fact I'm one of them.
What a lot of people don't seem to realise is that there's a million ways you can change a house, but there's only one way you can keep it in its original condition. And that's by not changing it.
Or in this particular case, not removing or changing any of the many remaining original features, and sympathetically replacing those that are missing.
I'm not big-noting myself here, because I didn't do any of that - it was all done by the previous owners, with absolutely no expense spared. The house was opened occasionally for visitors, as part of "heritage open house" tours organised by the National Trust. That's how I came to know about it.
I was once chatting to an antique dealer, who when he discovered which house I was living in, told me in all apparent sincerity "that is the most beautifully restored Victorian house in Melbourne". Hyperbole perhaps, but not far off the truth.
All that is now gone.post #66470 of 6794611/26/15 at 9:37pmpost #66471 of 6794611/26/15 at 9:42pmpost #66472 of 6794611/26/15 at 9:57pmCaptains Log Star Date 112715 we are stuck in the quagmire of the M5, the black hole that is the Eastern Distributor is sucking the life force from us.
