I am seriously considering buying a sheersucker suit after watching Michael Douglas wearing one on 'And so it goes '.

FWIW, that's just my personal preference. I've seen Lyo (from PJT Sydney) wearing his seersucker a couple times and I think he executes it fairly well.

The key would be to strip away seersucker's traditional stylistic connotations. I recall a photo from several Pittis ago showing Kamoshita wearing a seersucker rig in a decidedly Neapolitan way.

If you're into it go for it, I'll stick to drill cotton :D

Of all the things to worry about in altering a jacket - the space between cuff buttons and end of sleeve is probably the least concern.

Altering a sleeve length from the shoulder is not only complicated skilled time consuming work but has inherent problems in that the sleeve will be narrowing as it comes down from the shoulder armscye.
Shortening the sleeve it at this point has the effect of trying to attach a smaller circumference circle (or circle like shape) to a larger circumference circle. There may, on some jackets, be a sufficient seam allowance on the sleeve to provide for widening the sleeve at the sleeve head this but its unlikely and would then involve additional work on the sleeve.
Shortening from the cuff is simpler and faster and perhaps even preferable..
There are a few tricks that a competent clever alterationist can perform to minimise any odd looking outcomes.
The above example on a MTM? jacket could, and still can, have been minimised by simply taking the button nearest the cuff and moving it above the other button. FFS you could do this at home one night while watching Shaun The Sheep.
In addition the above example stands out because if the dark buttons on a light checked backgrounds. Not to mention its a close up photo on a nitpicking nerds forum. Navy buttons on a navy jacket and you wouldn't see it.
Other fixes are possible depending on the space between buttons/button holes. On surgeons cuffs leaving the last button off is a simple one. Cutting the cuff just on the last button hole is another.
Other than having a dark button on a light background and the last button being right on the cuff edge most people, even including iGents, wont notice.

Lovers of spending stupid amounts of money on alcohol-based products that you can't even drink but are supposed to make you smell nice may be interested to know that Mens' Biz is now stocking Amouage and Nasomatto. Buying online with their BB15 code will get you a 10% discount, which would be about the best deal going here on these brands, short of eBay or offshore sellers.

Anyone else see Spectre tonight?

Tom Ford has done well. Minor collar gap at times, but good wide lapels and perfect tv pocket square folds. How do you manage to slide down the side of a building without tearing the fabric, with your button done up and still come out with a perfect fitting suit?

There was one scene that surprised me. Bond wore a very short red knitted tie. It didn't end anywhere near his belt. Still looked excellent.

As for the film - it was okay.
