Hey Manu, are those the Classic Collection split-toe bluchers?: http://meermin.es/ficha_articulo.php?id=1947. They look pretty nice, and I've been looking for affordable (and not too narrow) STBs for a while now. Care to give me a mini-review?
Hi tobiasj

Sorry I've taken a while.

Yes they are the classic collection. If I had to sum them up in one word it would be 'stiff'. The meermin/dainite sole is stiff as a board and doesn't seem to get much better with time. Having said that I still think they are pretty good value for the money and I'll probably grab another pair of meermins but with a leather sole.

The quality of the leather is OK. It looks and feels a lot better after some decent sessions of using renovator and cream polish. I didn't like the original colour that was a bit too red for me but now I'm happy with it.

I should also add that they fit very snug and I probably needed a half size larger which may have contributed to the stiff feeling.

It's a streetwear suit, to that end it's fine. For any other end it's sub-optimal.

For coat hangers it might be worth trying Howard's Storage World, especially their DFO outlet. Also, have you considered op shops? You could probably talk an op shop into giving you good hangers for peanuts. You'd be surprised at the quality you might find on their racks, with branded hangers very common.

I use these guys

http://www.mycoathangers.com.au/products/Cedar-Suit-Hangers-With-Bar%2dSold-in-Bundles-of-5.html

5 cedar hangers, a little under $30 delivered in Sydney.

I just use the plastic hangers and canvas bags that come with my suits. Cedar only masks the smell of wool from moths rather than repel them, so I don't see the point.

I tend to go all out on tie and belt racks though, peters of kensington sell woodlore stuff on the cheap.

Hey Oli, why do you go all out on the belt and tie racks, but not the suit hangars? I assume your suits are the larger investment, or do you just like the belt and tie hangars?

Anyone with Sunspel polo's .. was there a secret source or just via sunspel web?

Also - hows the sizing? 99cm chest = medium on the charts

Sunspel site or Mr. Porter is your best bet. I think I received an email a week or so ago about free shipping from Mr. Porter at the moment.

Medium should have you covered.

There's more of them and they're fiddley. My woodlore tie rack is really useful when you've got a tonne of ties to sort out. Same deal with belts.

So long as the suit hangers are contoured to maintain the shape of the shoulders and are in a breathable bag I can't see the big deal about wooden suit hangers - cedar isn't going to do jack for stopping months, and I can't see the hanger itself 'absorbing moisture' like its advertised either.

I have more than15 ties in my collection. Is it time to admit I have an addiction?

Only 15?? I think that you need to have two or three times that before you really have an addiction! (Then again, maybe I was just unrealistic about the nature of my addiction for a long time...)

I currently have 9, looking to stop at 12. How low do you think a tie collection would have to be before people start noticing you wear the same ties all the time?
