Teacher?

(Its part of the Alcoholic Geography Teacher look I'm fond of - but I like it with (brown) cord jacket and knit tie.)

Iwishiwasricher is a teacher, (as far as I'm aware), hence my comment on it being a good teachers tie. Let's face it, a lot of people wearing ties these days are doing so because they want to, not because they need to. Whether it's a teacher, public servant, account manager or whatever doesn't really matter.

Compulsory at my school. Suits on formal occasions too. Not all schools- publics schools generally have a 'smart' policy which can be interpreted in a lot of ways.

Teaxhing Prob the same ratio of people who like dressing up and others that have tomato sauce on their shirt for weeks. No too much high end stuff though. My Henry carter ties and scarf have pushed me to the top of the best dressed leader board though.

So am I - but I'm willing to bet we work in VERY different contexts ;).

Matt I must say I really enjoy your tumblr pics.

Its years since I've been back to Mildura - I used to be there at least once a fortnight for years.
Mainly stayed at the Grand. Mixed feelings about the place.

Mainly drove. Lost my licence for doing 140Ks once on way home. At midnight.
Had the worst storm I have ever experienced once flying home. I was horrified at the thought of dying in a plane crash somewhere over Hattah- Kulkyne.

Thanks man. I'm off the Perri Perri sandhills and Wentworth this weekend - so there'll be a whole bunch more (I hope).

Rex flights to Melbourne are like flying 20 years ago (I think) - rough, unsteady, crazy - landing is like a rollercoaster.

I'll snap some photos of the Grand next time I'm around there.

Why different contexts? Because of the ties?

It's a good indicator, generally (the more emphatic leadership are about dress codes the more prestigious the workplace).

I also work in a very unusual school (rural, staffing problems, student demographic where 80% are in the bottom 2 quartiles of socio-economic status, many problems comparable to urban schools, etc, etc, etc).

Suppose you are right. Contexts will dictate the dress code.

Means you can stand out more I guess.

My dads been teaching over 30 years now and has always worn levis and plaid. Teaching isn't exactly a profession that would pay for fine tailoring, either.

Apart from lawyers (and only those in court) and undertakers I don't really know anywhere where it's compulsory.

I should state that Canberra being Canberra I know where iwishiwasricher teaches because my wife and sister in law know his wife (2 degrees of separation here). So I was aware of the level of formality involved. If I was a teacher in the country, I'd prob wear RM's and moleskins and an Oxford for the most part.

So over-dressed HC ;).

Loving the sound of colder weather in the ACT - might be time to move.
