herringbone sale wasnt great. i bought some of the red turkish trousers for 50 dollars.

the american tailors sale is pretty good. they have some handgrades as well as benchgrades for 395. some drakes ties for 59 as well as what has been mentioned earlier.
the castagnia trousers on the table looked amazing, although at 50% off 565, theyre still not an impulse buy.

The bloke who runs Deerstyle is a lovely person who will be able to have a good talk with you about various patterns. He's got quite a few fabric samples on hand for you to have a look at - hundreds, in fact.

So as to narrow down your choices, have a think about what you actually want to use the jacket for. Do you want it to be a bit more formal? If so, then something in a lightweight navy wool is probably your best bet. Do you like patterned cloth? If so, then perhaps something with a check - Deerstyle has access to large numbers of different checks, ranging from the conservative (say, navy with a reasonably discrete overcheck) to grey or light brown with strongly contrasting overcheck.

You've probably done so already, but so as to give yourself some ideas, you could look at recent posts in the "What are you wearing right now" thread so as to see what fabrics other people are wearing (as most of the people posting in that thread are in the northern hemisphere, they're largely wearing summery clothing at present).

Not to complicate things too much, but also have a think about what other features you would like - do you want patch pockets and, if so, do you want the breast pocket to be a patch pocket, or welted? Do you want a central vent, side vents or no vent at the back of the jacket? Notch lapels or peak lapels? And so on - there are a lot of choices to make.

Anyway, as I say, the bloke who runs Deerstyle is lovely and he's always happy to chat with clients about different cloths, different patterns and different stylistic choices.

Make sure to give him a call or to send him an e-mail first to set up an appointment as he doesn't spend all his time at the shop.
