Congrats Jason!

And yes, guilty again, tassel loafers without socks. Didn't think it would be a crime on casual Friday. No?

Hi Nabil,
Great loafers mate, perfectly balanced, not too elongated or too clunky(old man-ish) in the burgundy. What are they? Possibly in your earlier posts but I'm a bit lazy today....

Hey guys, apart from this thread, what other threads do you follow on SF?

I pretty much only look at this one, the affiliate threads of people on here (Jason, for example) and that's about it. Haven't branched out into other ones. Any recommendations for interesting reads/diverse opinions? :)

I tend to look at this thread first, but also enjoy looking at various other threads, such as:

- Shoe damage report;
- Watch appreciation;
- Cool shoes, paraphernalia and desiderata;
- Edward Green appreciation thread; and
various other threads that pop up on a variety of subjects.

As an example, I really enjoyed reading through the discussion in the "iGent myths busted" thread, which was based on something that Sator (a former Australian SF member with a very strong interest in tailoring) posted on his "cutter and tailor" forum. The "Who was voxsartoria" thread was also entertaining.

I'll also dip into the Current Events or General Chat subfora from time to time so as to see what's being discussed and I've thrown my 2c into discussions about gun control and higher education, amongst other things.

I think they're Alden tassels in burgundy shell. I could be wrong.

Cheers BM!

If I'm not mistaken didn't you have a loafer kerfuffle not so long ago, one shoe longer. Any luck rectifying that?

Yeah, I did. Alden for Brooks Brothers. One loafer longer, or the other shorter. I'm not certain which is right and which is wrong. Brooks Brothers refunded the shoe and the postage price, less some kind of fee. I came out under to the tune of $15 or $20, but I didn't pursue it further. Just that I won't be buying Alden online anymore. I've had too many issues with their QC.

EDIT: FWIW, I own several pairs of Alden shoes, and think they're lovely, but they're working over capacity as it is, and they're letting mistakes slip through the cracks, IMO.

Pretty disappointing, Carmina make a fantastic loafer too, in the Rain l think off the top of my head. I'm looking to get a pair of Carmina however l'd like to try a pair on before taking the plunge especially with the tricky Simpson last.

Enjoy your weekend man, l'm taking my boy off to the park now!

Not really too much I can do so at this point, I will be keeping them. Have yours arrived yet?

I'm surprised Skab couldn't do anything, although I can imagine Carmina wouldn't be too fun to work with over such an issue. I actually pulled out after some unforseen expenses nailed my funds for that MTO.

They were good and very helpful. I can't say much more except that they will definitely go all out to assist.

Hey guys I need help with loafers.

Nabilmust I have seen your penny loafers in your shoe 'group shot', and am after something similar (1st pair of loafers, brown ish colour?, to wear with chinos mainly and with shorts?, possibly get away with nice slacks and blazer).

Firstly, Im going to Europe (Amsterdam, Florence, Paris, London main cities), but have also been looking online at these Herring loafers (http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&brandid=6&shoeid=2768).

The image below that is a range of colours I have also considered.

Few things/ issues I have:

- few main stores in Europe, if purchasing there is clearly the best option
- ideal/ most versatile brown colour (ie to wear with dark and light chinos, if such a thing exists) ....edit: - are these all too light?
- with the Herrings above; the toe is too pointed?, also the weird square stitch on the top band
- these loafers with chinos = no socks?

Otherwise the price is right for me at around $250 AUD (exc. VAT), and I tend to prefer the 'Hazelnut' colour over the other browns and burgundy.

Appreciate any opinions from all.

edit: links to other browns

^not too keen on the square stitch either but I quite like the look of the one on the top row that's 2nd from the left.
Anyone own a Jpress shaggy dog? And how did you go sizing wise?

Edit: Looking for some dress pants in Melbourne with good bang for buck and in wool or a sleeker cotton

Thanks in advance!

Thanks all, I'm utterly exhausted after only 3 hours sleep last night but completely elated and so proud of my wife. Edie has been a model baby in her first 17 hours of life so far.

Congrats jase! all the best, glad all went well mate :)
