the shoes have each been worn once out of the house, and will be sold as new with all boxes, dustbags, receipts etc.

pickup can be arranged in melbourne, or i will post at cost.

Try SuitSupply's online store. They provide detailed measurements for all their garments, and a free ship-back service if the garment doesn't fit. Also very reasonable pricing. I'm wearing a SS suit today - DB chalkstripe flannel in the Soho cut, in Carlo Barbera fabric. I picked it up from the Shanghai store. It was less than A$700, although I believe their prices have now gone up.

Well at least you have a sense of humour. Keep posting, I say.

Coxy this is freaking awesome! Bold and schmick, bravo.

Can anyone tell me what the RL Preston's are like? Also should I size down slightly compared to my MJB suit pants?

I'm a fan, got a few pairs probably the best OTR chinos I own.

The La Spalla has a 3-roll-2, and the middle button sits at a point I think is flattering on me. Much lower than the Havana.

RL Preston pants are great. $50 ea from the RL outlet.

High rise, good room in the thigh - but they need to be massively slimmed from the thighs down. I'm talking completely reworked. And they have an inseam of like 38" or something crazy. That feel when you're a 28" inseam :(

Hope this helps, homeslice.

I'm with you buddy, heavy alterations but totally worth it. Comfy and flattering at a reasonable price point even after alterations.

If anyone's interested, here's my chinos journey so far:

- MJ Bale Khakis: good fabric, poor fit

- Country Road Straight Fit: too loose through the thigh, average fabric for $100 as well

- Country Road Slim Fit: look like something Peter Pan (not to be mistaken with PetePan) would wear

- Target Casual Fit Chinos: wore these for a couple of months. Originally had them tapered, but the fabric stretched badly overtime. Too light to be worn formally.

- Levis Chinos: great fit. Problem was I ordered in the wrong size. When I went to get another pair they'd changed the fabric from a rinsed 'true chino' to a 'gold harvest' which looked like a wash.

- Lands End Canvas Straight Fit Comer: too low rise, rubbish fabric

- Lands End Non-Iron Tailored Fit: best fit so far (medium rise, tapered leg). Fabric itched like hell though and was a really horrible colour.

- Lands End Non-Iron Straight Fit: too low rise. Also itchy.

- Lands End Lighthouse Straight Fit: these are the lowest rise pants I've encountered so far.

- TM Lewin Business Casual Chinos: Great fit and fabric, but again, low rise.

For those who missed the magazine section of the Australian today, it seems that P. Johnson are now considered bespoke*!

*At least according to the fashion Q and A section...

I don't expect much debate around what they offer (MTM and exceptionally well done), but it's interesting the perceptions that are out and about in the general populace (if you can consider a female fashion writer part of the general populace). Unless of course someone's getting a backhander.. But surely not!

i can't say I've noticed much difference here in salvos prices. But I have had millions of people tell me how great Hugo Boss men's suits are, mainly women, and pity me for being a know nothing when I discreetly raise an eyebrow and cough.

hardly likely but with the erosion of profits, due to online, cutbacks in "journos" and a tendency to eschew fact checking and expert knowledge or even asking questions you can be pretty sure 80% of articles in any paper are recycled pres releases at best and verbatim reprints mostly. I've been shocked at the number of times I've had a pretty basic PR blurb reprinted almost holus bolus.

I didn't see it as I don't buy the Govt. Gazette these days.

He he why would people pay to advertise in their rags when they can get an op ed reprinted as 'news' for free?

I think they would be a bit to full for your liking, looking at your preferences through your 'Chino Journey'. Best thing to do is get to a DJs, Myer or RL that stocks them and try them on (Preston is everywhere in Melbourne, but not too sure about NSW).
