PS, what beautiful tweed. Can I ask who made it?

I was actually planing to wear one of my 2 green jackets, one is a herringbone, and the other is a 'Paddington Bear' lime green with purple overcheck...(it actually works!) to the work Chistmas function tomorrow - and the cooler weather might let me.

Who's going to the Dress for Success function next week?

I missed the recent meetup - apologies ....

The tweed is from Robert Noble and it is a Hackett jacket.

Got my Christmas party tomorrow too. Original was to wear something like this with my new string loafers but might need to see what the weather decides to do.

Hieratic! (Standard comment from Black Sabath fans)

As for earlier comments about the 1920's there was a post war economic boom and the Roaring Twenties probably fuled by coke according to a history of Kings Cross I've just read. It wasn't till October 1929 that the Great Depression began.

But if you're looking at accruing miles through everyday spend - the $150/year amex platinum edge is pretty good. You used to (not sure if it still exists) get 20,000 miles as a sign on bonus, 3 miles per dollar at supermarkets, 2 per dollar at petrol stations, 1 for everything else - basic travel insurance, as well as a return melbourne to brisvegas (or equivalent distance) ticket every year.

Additional card holders are free, so decent for families.

If you're a frequent flyer and you only fly baller class, the Amex Centurion is good - 40% off F tickets. It used to be 2-for-1 which stacked with whatever promo the airline was doing - which made for some amazing discounts for those who could afford to front $10k+. Alas, for the rest of us mere mortals, we missed out.

Thanks for the reccomendation

I'm just a very low spending pleb who wants to find way sto reduce expenses further. I'll look into the AMEX one - what was the SQ program you mentioned to quar?

One problem with KrisFlyer is that you don't earn points for Virgin Australia flights. But for that, I would move over to SIA/Virgin. Some of the SIA routes (eg Singapore-Rome) also fly older planes with dated seats, etc.

Nelson Mandela the last great saint of the 20th Century has passed away. Had the pleasure of seeing him up close at St Mary's Cathedral and the Opera House, such a remarkable man.

You've got Facebook, you've got Twitter, you've got Tumblr, you've got a telephone, you've got SMS, you've got skype.

Can we not have R.I.P messages on a clothing forum, please.

If you aren't spending much then there's no point paying for a CC to get the rewards program. The annual cost will probably outweigh the reward, I'm afraid.

The SQ program is KrisFlyer - SQ's loyalty program. Some australian CC's earn SQ points directly, but most people transfer via amex.

With the VA/Etihad codeshare I'd be pumping my miles towards Etihad. Pity their redemption program is so locked out.

On a fashion related front - I've been kopping like a madman recently. Not home until xmas, so it'll all be sitting there, just waiting for me. Can't wait!

Jimmy Hoffa is not dead.

But this thread will be if I see another Mandela tribute.

Unless the tribute relates to the fit of his suits.

Anyway, on to more lasting topics, Pink Socks, those pink trousers look great - especially with that dark blue shirt.
