Sounds like a nice outfit, the issue of course with full linen is the wrinkling that will occur, maybe consider a blend?  I like the look of the new MJbale navy blended suit (cotton/linen).

I used to have two - one was pure linen, and the other was a linen-silk blend. Both were quite light in colour, the first was a three-piece in a beige (ie "natural") colour and the second was more a tan/light brown colour.

In my opinion, if you want a pure linen suit, go for a darker colour (ie blue/navy or a brown) as pure linen really wrinkles and the lighter colours show the wrinkles very clearly. If you don't mind the wrinkles, then that's fine, and of course linen is meant to wrinkle as that its its nature, but some people might be a bit hesitant about wearing a heavily wrinkled suit at work.

The silk-linen blend suit didn't wrinkle nearly as much as the pure linen suit, so if you can find a similar blend, then you can safely go for a lighter colour as it won't show the wrinkles as much.

It's not pure linen, but a wool-linen blend, however a friend of mine recently picked up this suit from TM Lewin for $299 and it actually looks nice. The lapels are a little bit narrower than is my personal preference but they're not too "fashionably" narrow.

I had an approx. 50/50 linen-wool suit in navy. It was fine for work, the only time someone noticed the wrinkles was after leaning back against a chair for a couple of hours. To be honest, I don't think it wore that much cooler than pure worsted, despite being unlined, but maybe it was just this particular fabric or just me. I've never worn pure linen so can't comment. In terms of work, I think suede shoes get much more attention than linen suits... go for it!

I have two, both a linen cotton blend, one in navy (although it has a slight purple tinge to it) and one in a chocolate/terracotta brown. I wear them both to work, although the blue one does tend to get more wear both as a suit and an odd jacket. The only complaint I have is that creases tend to set in very quickly, for me this is usually some logitudinal creases where my leg rubs up against my bag, and on my single-vent jacket, the top panel tends to curl back and it's hard to get it to sit flat without ironing.

Raw linen is probably a bit too rough for for office wear, what with the rumpling and all, but a blend gives a pretty good compromise between comfort and presentability. If you go for a cotton-linen blend, my reccomendation would be to consider something unlined or even unstructured as the cotton doesn't breathe as well as raw linen or even a wool fresco.

Holy shit, 28 degrees in Sydney today.

LINENFORSUMMER, AMIRITE?!

For most people's work environments, I think Fresco or similar is a much better option, if you can afford it.

Linen would be OK for a Friday suit.

I sense there will be many linenistas this summer.

A good thing.

Thanks for the replies. The one I'm looking at is 100% linen which is the main thing holding me back, that and the jetted pockets. TM Lewin one looks interesting especially for $170 but alas no size 36.
