anyone got any suggestions for what to wear....

I'm going to an academic conference in Darwin the week after next. Will be my first time presenting research and want to look half decent. Most of the doctors there are likely to look like slobs but I don't really feel like giving up just because of the weather. It will be smart casual dress I'm assuming although I could definitely get away with more being that I'll be on stage. My biggest concern is the weather, it's going to be a hell of a lot different to Newcastle and I particularly hate feeling flustered and too hot.

Thoughts?

With clean T shirt and clean shorts and something on your feet you would stand out as an effete snob from down south

WAIT. WHAT?! How did the G&Gs look like?

They were all antique tan, very nice, but all with chisel toes. Not my cup of tea.

Did anyone here buy them?

Wasn't someone looking for Argyle's a few pages back?

Also, does anyone know where I can pick up a Kent shaving brush in Melbourne or just online in AUS?

I think Mr Firmin was looking for the argyles.

In terms of shaving brushes, it is not Kent but I got one of these a few months ago (to replace my old Taylor of Old Bond Street one which was about 8 years old) - http://www.mensbiz.com.au/shaving/shaving-brushes/badger-brushes.html?q=&manufacturer=31&skin_type=&sale=&order=name&dir=asc&category=92

These guys are great, super fast delivery and there is a discount code, something like BB2011 for 15% off (search this thread or Badger and Brush). Highly recommended.

+1

I've used one of those brushes for the last couple of years, good stuff, and men's biz are good people.

Ahh. Antique tan doesn't agree with me either. Thanks anyway!

Does anyone know anything about Tolley Saville Row?

They appear to be having a fairly decent sale (backpage of today's Sunday Age) - any one on here familiar with their quality?

I own one of their 'Strickland and Sons' shirts. Lovely shirt, irons well. I think I paid ~$50 on sale?

They did MTM from ~$1000 iirc, and had a decent range of suits. I tried on one, and it fit quite well, but I couldn't part with $600 for it at the time.

Nice guys. Tiny store!

Hi Gents,
My first db by Ovadia & Sons New York. Took me while to find what I was looking for. The lapels are massive. The cut is quite slim fits every where .I just need to take in the waist. The fabric is lambswool. Half lined , Canvased real smoked pearl button. Easily this is the nicest fabric jacket that I have. A lots of hand works.

Also 2 pairs of Carminas I acquired (x-post from carmina thread).

Excellent. The suede/calf spectators on Forest last. I have been eyeing those. Wear in good health!
