The sleeves are the major thing putting me off the sheerwater. I think I want non-raglan sleeves. Looks a bit cleaner. On the other hand I think 100% cotton would be nice, although not essential and possibly less waterproof. The Sheerwater is significantly cheaper too. Not sure I like the under collar check of the Broadgate. Hmm...

My view is that raglan sleeves are preferable on a trench, not just because they're 'traditional' but because they sit better over a variety of jackets with potentially differing shoulder treatments, or no jacket at all, which can move your effective shoulder point. With a set in sleeve if the shoulder point doesn't match closely enough with what's underneath they can sit strangely.

Oh and that sheerwater is for Edifice which I believe is made for the Japanese market. My aquascutum is one of those and the fit is much more slim (in a good way) than regular aquascutum, probably more like a Burberry Prorsum.

I did see an olive tweed tie there that I really liked but couldn't think of what I'd wear it with so I left it. I might go back later and check it out again if it's still there.

I just bought this one from Jason

Really nice tie - and I am thinking it will go with grey or navy suits and pale blue shirts - or trousers and a blazer. Nice fine wool - not too fluffy for a wool tie. Its a little bit country and a little bit rock n roll - if I may quote the Osmonds.

You're right. Hope you don't mind but I just did the same - HB already got some of my cash, I'm glad that Jason also had this. This is an unusual tie in a good way.

We are all individuals! Actually, it would be appropriate because it is made from Aussie wool.

I'm currently looking for a navy(-ish) sports coat/blazer to add to the wardrobe staples, and somehow ended up looking through DJs last Saturday in the Hugo Boss section of all places. As things turned out I ended up trying on a navy blazer they had which was far too large, so the SA tried on a mid-blue blazer (partial linen apparently) which actually looked quite decent. What wasn't decent was the $1k+ price tag, especially when I noted the same item from the US store for ~$400 online (not to mention general SF comments on the HB price to quality ratio).

So, I thought I'd see what I can get online, and remembering what I've read on posts past here I looked up Boglioli to start the search,,, It would seem that a 3-button stance is the current euro-fashion (for want of a better description) which I am really not a fan of. Further looking dug up this: http://www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayProduct.jsp?product=JLIN-MO126&c=Jackets+&+Coats&s=C&d=p which seems reasonable enough, but it's not something I'll drop that sort of cash on without a chance to check the fit...

I'm thinking it might be time to give P Johnson another call, as I am still quite impressed with my first suit commission, but I'm open to suggestions of what else is worthy of consideration at the $500 to $700 price point in blazers/sports coats. Give or take...

Popped into Henry Bucks to look for any more of those $50 Drakes scarves as present. Can't find any more and ended up leaving with one of those P. Albizzati linen squares. I don't wear bleeding squares. I have no idea why I bought it. I now have 4 pocket square that I never wear.
