In a double dose of irony I'll be in what I've been in all day - jeans, single narrow roll up ironed flat, burgundy chukkas, faded pink/red awning striped OCBD, white T , car coat dark red.

Fish 'n' Chips before hand in front of open fire.

Double (at least) ironic as its Gatsby so I wont dress up as thats just too obvious, secondly I never wear jeans out at night at all, thirdly most plonkers there will either be dressed up or in jeans due to lack of thought, and lastly I have actually thought about what I'll wear - contrast with 90% of blokes there. Oh the depths of irony and knowingness - those around me will never guess*

Op shops old sport jackets or cardis if you are lucky.

I just got some loverly horn ones from a specialist Haberdashery for a jacket - sadly couldn't match the sleeve ones exactly - but I got some near enough unless some iGentt idiot from here peers too closely - or gerry takes a snap - no one will know.

Theres a fair few button shops in Melbourne and often tailors have a secret stash if you are liked.

Backend is on an old Dell box that really isn't up to Ubuntu 12.04 but at least is working. Frontends are a recent custom built htpc box in the lounge and and cheapo MSI all-in-one touch PC in the kitchen.

#obmenswear I think I really want a new decent navy peacoat to replace the cheap black one I have that doesn't really fit. Looked online at the Country Road one someone mentioned, didn't grab me that much. Any other suggestions? People have mentioned the JCrew one but not sure if I want to buy from them on principal!

I just got these from Carmina and am absolutely blown away by how beautiful they are in real life. On the Soller last (very similar in feel to the Inca), these boots are very comfortable for my feet.

Thanks - that answered my question about noise. I cannot watch anything on commercial free to air as I cannot stand adverts and the only good stuff on each week is always on SBS and ABC at the same time. I was wanting to cobble together something from unused old stuff but noise is the big problem and you seem to have a sophisticated set up in the whole house. Does it turn your lights on etc from your phone when you get home?

Pea Coats - there was a long useful thread here a while back that threw up a few choice options.

What's everyone got on this weekend? It's going to a cold and rainy start to winter in Melbourne.

1. Get beaten up by a curvy blonde.
2. Op shopping
3. Cooking - roasts and casseroles now replacing fish and salads
4. Get into the new series of Engrenages
5. Try to solve DA crossword
6. Try to catch up with Matt on the book challenge. (I have Akula nailed).
7. Stay dry.

I have done 1 and 2 already. Blonde was not happy with me and told me to work harder.

Op shop haul was not bad: 2 Ede and Ravenscroft ties, a Canali puppytooth knit tie, coupla pocket squares, a pair of Corneliani heavy cotton slacks, Dunhill shirt made in England, some vintage silver cufflinks (look regimental) and a small bottle of Ferragamo cologne. Had to pass on some suede Ferregamo chukkas because the price was stratospheric, some Alden tassel loafers that were too small and any amount of Valentino and Zegna suits that were ventless.

A noticeable new trend at op shops is the number of copies of It's Not About the Bike to be found. Also there seems to be rather a lot of Melbourne FC scarves and jumpers around. Can't think why.
