Hey Romp

A quick question if you don't mind. I remember in the Meermin thread you talked about sizing comparison between a pair of Meermin (Hiro) and Loake (Capital) a while back. DId you find them to be similar in terms of sizing? Cheers

Yes, I think that you pay a premium of more than $200 if you buy the shoes from the Cloakroom rather than over the internet from Carmina. It doesn't really seem to be sustainable to me, and I do wonder how many pairs they actually sell.

A friend who went to the Cloakroom to look at Carminas did mention that Andrew (the owner) seemed pretty happy to discount if someone bought two or more pairs at the same time, but even the discounted price would have had them paying $500 or more per pair.

Thanks mate

Looks like I'll have to do a Russian roulette and hope for the best... but the Meermin's do look really nice. A lot of shoe for the price...

Thanks guys for the input. It would be nice if they were more competitively priced but I guess at their target Market, why bother. I just wanna try the revered Simpson last on, before I pull the trigger. The fact they are a smaller operator I feel bad to try their wares on before I hit it online. Maybe i should harden my conscience : )

Dusty

Have you tried contacting Betty at Carmina? She usually handles enquiries. She should be able to help you with sizing or at least give you an idea. The Simpson is their narrowest last AFAIK.

Else, head to Cloakroom, put on a thick skin and try away. I won't be able to do that myself for the reason it's not very polite wink.gif

I'm 40 this year. I think these sneakers are reasonably grown up. They are a few years old now and smashed to fuck. Only care taken has been to wipe clean and the occasional feed with Renovateur.

With all this talk of button down collars and knit ties I thought I'd snap some shots this afternoon to illustrate just how good (and simple) a navy blazer, light blue OCBD and knit tie can be. Also as there are new knits due in the next few weeks, I've reduced all knit ties down to $49.95 ($20 off) and all printed silk 7 fold ties down to $49.95 (half price) as well. Oh and get the Style Forum 10% discount when you spend over $84.95 by adding the code SF10 when checking out.

Things fall apart the centre does not hold. And stereo amplifiers are not built to last well this one did 16 years but it just up and died and so went and picked up a new Rotel amplifier goes great with new speakers i got recently. Sure the neighbours enjoy Bitches Brew. Mind you I think its going to cost me a new sewing machine for her.

Re OCBD and the 'roll' this is worth a read http://putthison.com/tagged/The-Oxford-Cloth-Button-Down-Shirt-Series

Today I've been wearing a Pink BB OCBD over a white crew ( Duchamp they have a high neck line which I prefer ) navy blue shawl collar half zip jumper, LE British Khaki Corduroy trousers and and RM boots.
