^ is that horn I see?
post #31068 of 57236

It's actually faux horn. But I can't complain for the price. Anyone want to hazard a guess?

*Ok, no one wants to play my game. Shucks - It's 36 bucks. lol. Just wanted to try it, and I am very very surprised by the quality for the price point.

I will take back what I said about the Loake Aldwych Brown being 'horrible', it is actually ok for the price (the pair was a bit creased up), and you might actually be quite happy with the shade of Brown. The Aldwych in store was the same shade as the Churchill, and both were a decent mid-conservative brown, with the cap burnished slightly darker.

The other pair are a choc brown.

I also thought if you need a 2nd pair of affordable shoes, and considered putting off the brown for another black pair, have a look at the Cheaney Fenchurch quarter brogues (http://www.cheaney.co.uk/index.php
)

They are surprisingly cheap, free shipping, and the 11028 last is really nice. Just a thought wink.gif

The Herring version comes in a slightly darker tone. My brogues look amazing, especially after a polish.

At first I was expecting it to be shite, but it actually turned out pretty good, actually. I ordered 2 for 80 bucks, or thereabouts.

Bargain buy of the year for me. Might try one of their cashmere cables...

No branding. Stiching feels pretty solid. Buttons are shitty thick plastic ones, but can't complain. Many many colours. Who's the man?

I ordered small, and it was generous. Still ok for fit. I'm 168 cm (short and small). Generally I go for 36 - 38 UK sizing. I'm sure Gerry or you could try small for one, and then reorder if too small.

Actually, I will warn you: it came in packaging smelling like a China factory, and still smells like factory, mothballs or something. lol. Need to wash or febreeze it.

About 2 weeks to receive the delivery. You still have time. Early Sept is spring, yeah?

**I was lusting after Drakes for the longest time, but it's like 450. Want to grab some more shoes this year, so holding off the Drakes. I think these will serve their purpose for a little while.
