I reckon a 30ml is a good way to go if you want to get some without forking out the price of a pair of shoes for it.

Thanks mate. How reputable are FragranceX though? That seems like a great price on the 118mL!

I had a look in Harrold's today during the lunch break - the Creed fragrances were on sale, but only very few, and mostly womens I think. They didn't have Green Irish Tweed on sale or in stock, by the looks of it, which made me feel a lot better about my DJs purchase. Also, the Tom Ford private blend stuff was still full price (395 bucks for 100mL) unfortunately.

On an unrelated note, what do you fellas think of this watch:

http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/Nav-B-Chrono-II-black-DLC,458.html

I think it's a beauty, and well-priced, but I'm worried at 44mm it might be a bit too gigantic considering a Junghans Max Bill is what I normally wear (and a size that suits my wrist).

Does anyone in Sydney know if the Opus 1870 is on sale at Harrolds?

1x Dark Brown Cap Toe
1x Black Cap Toe
I love sneakers (the ultimate beater shoe IMO and what I'd wear when at home or out on the weekends).

IIRC you are in Mildura and a teacher. Years ago part of my empire was in Mildura and I spent a lot of time at the Grand Central.
I was initially shocked by the short sleeved polyester white shirts with ties, long shorts, long socks and lace up shoes.
In a while i got used to "the look"

I'd suggest:

One pair of RM craftsman in brown. (or if it was me - the brown kangaroo chukkas)
One pair of black brogues - will work ok for weddings /funerals etc
One pair of Sperry Topsiders - wearable sans hose and plus shorts should you desire {shudder}.

Note I carry it (by the handles) most of the time esp if wearing a suit.

I've just placed my first order with them, and it's yet to arrive.

I did some research on Basenotes and they actually have an awful rep with the Aus members there; shipping takes forever. I suggest you hold off a bit, and I'll update you when my goods arrive. No need for two of us to get burnt.

I've only got two Dainite soles but I find them more treacherous - particularly on slippery timber deck, - and hard underfoot - than leather.

How do you find them?

Agree they are firmer in the front foot. heel i dont feel much diff - i still have that "rubber" layer in the heel on most of these.

I havent experienced walking on wood but I get no issues on the almost polished stones in Martin Place inthe wet!

Actually I told a slight mis-truth .. one of my suede brogues are "vibram" as sold to me from Maninna in Florence

Anyone wear a Herringbone Osaka 42R? Brand new Navy Chalkstripe up for grabs. smile.gif

Having read some of your posts you guys are right - double monks might be a bit too much.

Also - could anyone recommend me a pair of brown driving shoes similar to the ones Patrick Johnson does but at a better price? they're very beautiful, but $400 is a bit steep for what they are.

Someone mentioned Andy Tom a few pages back, they make some in brown suede (but not leather).

Think it is. IIRC it was all the Penhaligon's.

Actually, I am thinking of going back and getting some after shave balm. Was only 30 smackers. With the cooler months ahead, I don't mind a bit of balm.
