Just thought I'd poke my nose in and see what the boys down under are talking about.
Thanks for the feedback - I was hoping that I could get away without the need to colour match, but guess I knew deep down it was going to be necessary. After inspecting the other shoe closely, I noticed that it had also copped a few splashes as well, but they had absorbed into the leather and are only evidenced by a tiny almost unnoticeable circular line in the leather. If I hadn't noticed the drops on the other shoe I wouldn't have a problem. Oh well, c'est la vie!
Edit: I never thought I'd see the color come out of leather so easily... remind me not to lick my finger next time!!!
Just got back from the R&B sale – very disappointing. There are no knit ties!. I repeat; no knit ties! As usual pocket squares and ties are $9 and $35 a pop respectively. No surprised that there was a lot of those aqua and fuchsia colours that they have been peddling recently, which to my eye is quite ugly. Also plenty of paisley to be found. Suiting was moving pretty quick, saw a lot of navy herringbone (tick) and blacks (cross). My size (40/50) was fairly depleted. Didn’t bother with the shirts.
I managed to pick up three pocket squares that I could somehow work with; black and white large hound’s-tooth like pattern, another brown and copper, and a hot pink – that I might put away until spring. Only found two ties worth buying – a navy with a light blue star-like pattern and a mid-blue with yellow stripes. At7.58cm wide, they are about as skinny as I will go.
Overall, probably not worth the visit unless you are walking in distance.
A couple of polishes later and it's patina. People pay big dollars to get some pre prepared fake patina put on their shoes.
This is real patina with the added bonus is that you have a story behind it. Or you can make a good one up. That's if anyone ever notices. Which they won't.

Any bow ties, shirts in 37S, 36/46 cotton jackets and XS knitwear?
I got some awesome patina on my shoes too: scratchs/cuts from tram tracks!
