Black captoes and jeans... ...oh dear

Let's not go overboard here. Maybe just start with the shower and ease into the rest? peepwall[1].gif Coincidentally, this is exactly how I dress for the SF drinking sessions.

my time in the work force i had quickly worked out that 95% of people are stupid, lazy or both and its not hard to put a little more effort in and a bit more care. Ive never seen any correlation between how someone dressed and their rate of promotion

in fact i usually notice rate of promotion then follows better clothing because they have more money/confidence to dress better.

I think our sentiments are aligned. The workplace where I have been working over the last few months, very few people where a tie, let a lone a pocket square. Almost everyone, including partners, where jeans on casual Friday. Quite a few people wear polos. I think they can look quite sharp, especially when tucked in.

It is scary when someone says you won't progress in life because you wear a polo to casual friday.

DB: It isn't my blog - I google imaged 'Chinos and Polo', that is what came up. I didn't actually read any of the text surrounding the picture :). I don't work in I.T, but within the financial services sector.

Mate wear what you want if it's a casual workplace, I just feel polos are too close to weekend wear and I don't really feel I'm in that work mindset if I'm wearing them. Though honestly I rarely wear them on the weekend either.
Not sure if you are saying you like the look on that blog or are trying to avoid it, but my initial impression are he looks like he's going to play golf. Nothing wrong with that, I'm a single figure golfer and love the game, I just don't want to look like it when I'm at work.

I wouldn't think so, as my Investigative Journalism tells me that you would be a "Dad. Architect. Writer. Entrepreneur" and that you live in LA!

Financial services nice : )

4 months on and I'm still looking for longwing derbys (like these http://blog.leffot.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/dsc_00321.jpg). Life is getting harder by the day.

Yep, 0/4 on that one :). Half of Australia works in financial services, I didn't want to be too revealing.

How about you?

I can see what you are saying. They certainly have a sporty flavour to them. LonerMatt was feeling that his Sunspel Polos made him feel 'Daddy', probably not a look you want to sport around the office. Personally, I think some short sleeve polos can look quite crisp.

Alden long wings in cigar shell cordovan? They shouldn't be too hard to find, should they?

Of course, you'll have to order them from the US as no-one in Australia stocks Alden.

Looks like #8 to me, but either way, try Meermin for a MTO in shell, Carmina or Vass maybe?
