It's a shame that the Australian ingrained thinking of getting a 'bargain' is still affecting the way in which we consume goods. If you're unable to afford a $650 MTM jacket then move on and find something else.
P.S. The fact that it is nearing Christmas doesn't mean that people all of a sudden have to be more charitable and nice to each other, at the risk of sounding like the Grinch.

I think your point is valid. However, in my experience, my entrance into bespoke and better MTM started with an assessment of pricing and its balance with quality of the garment. At least, that was my mentality when I dropped what I thought was a lot of money at WWC. Since then, my perception of price point now includes customer service among other things.

My point is that price still plays a part in someone's decision to go above RTW.

Also, true that the hols shouldn't influence how we interact on this forum - I prefer that we treat each other cordially throughout the year.

Nice post, PS! Not too sure about those ones from eBay you posted but it's not much of a gamble if you buy one and it doesn't work out. I'm still trying to decide on one but I know I would like something lightweight with a hood that can be folded away.

...just wanted a guideline into how much I should save for this....sorry for turning this into an argument :)

EDIT: Gerry what's on your plate for field jackets so far?

Why do you need to be sorry in the face of rudeness and boorish behaviour? I would have answered you easily except I have no experience with MTM nor P Johnson in Australia. Some people are having a bad day and taking it out on you in a cowardly way- anonymously through the internet, shouting in CAPITAL LETTERS, and some idiot deems it appropriate to reinforce that.  Sounds very much like schoolyard bullying to me.

There is no need to be sorry if you did jack all wrong.

post #22925 of 32044

^^ I agree, no need to apologize.

btw, although I'm not a fan of Tracy Grimshaw, watching her interview the Sydney DJ's boggles my mind. They still do not admit that they crossed a line: "It's not up to us to decide what to do with the prank call. Someone else decides on that."

Exercise some common sense, or bad things happen.

Anything and everything so far - Aspesi, Boglioli, Filson, Alpha. I haven't eliminated anything yet since I'm still doing my research.

I'm watching Supernatural at the moment - been watching it from the beginning. This is a scene from the episode I'm watching now:

I just realised something - I've just bought a trench and a peacoat (from the original owner and made in the year I was born!). I guess it's only natural that I should be looking for a field jacket!

Presenting a point of view with justifiable rationale does not equal 'schoolyard bullying'. Welcome to SF.

And no, don't apologise, I think it's good to generate some healthy debate, even if it is deviating towards negativity.

What exactly is the debate being generated?

And what is your so-called "justifiable rationale"?

If you think:

A) shouting in CAPS;

B) repeating the shouting in CAPS;

constitutes presenting point of views, I suggest a possible career path as a radio jockey. God knows they need more of you.

I feel so relaxed and calm.

Dartagnan, thanks for not showing me the Il-Bisonte wallet. And who the hell is your friend, that you are giving this too? Better not be anyone from your workplace facepalm.gif.

Looks like I am not getting the Rubinacci pocket square after all :(. Damn I was looking forward to that sexy Mother******.

Just as a further reference to anyone else if they haven't gotten the clue yet.

I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as you are to yours regarding the importance of pricing in bespoke options. But requoting something four times is hardly constructive.

BTW

Now that we are talking about P Johnson again, has anyone seen his new loafers?

http://www.pjohnsonshop.com/collections/loafers/products/black-and-white-woven-shantung-silk-tie

Damn, I have years to go before I put a loafer that looks like that in my wardrobe. That looks terrible. I now see what you guys were talking about with Apolis, and some stuff being absolute crap and others being golden. Cearly P J should stick to suits!

P.S Streetminimal is a nice guy, he can also be a douche. We've knocked heads before ;).

I saw the post but they're all out of my size everywhere I've looked, e.g. http://www.buzzricksons.com/type-65-combat-jacket-p-139.html

Why do you say it's amazing?

Nice fit. You've been following Foo's "no white shirt with pure white PS" advice, I see.

btw, did anyone catch vox's commentary on the "great debate" on tumblr?  I don't understand why he would delete those golden posts.

btw, deets please
