I'm getting out of touch - I still put my wallet in my pocket!

Maybe this goes with the bare ankles look?

Wouldn't aging something like a folio to look like this take quite a while?

Two ways it ages

1) via general handling - everyone has different level of sweat etc on their hands so the rate of darkening varies

2) UV - if you want to give it some early age, stick it in on the window sill and rotate it ... might take a month but it will get a few shades darker.

3) do not get raindrops/water etc on it - i dropped an oyster on that wallet in my first week - luckily i persevered and it blended it after a couple months:)

my wife and mother have a number of il bisonte items. My wife just uses hers without care and it develops the patina very fast. My mum keeps hers in a cloth bag after each use and shows very little age.

I hope she's not like that with you mate smile.gif

Seriously, if you just use your leather items and do nothing, they look good. At least, that's been my experience with all the nice leather items I own.

Can't decide between the one you've got, one from tanner goods or a shell one (money clip) from mitchell; will probably make a decision by the end of today or tmmrw mornin.

P.S.

Another Barbour's 'lined up in my sights,' fingers crossed

buy it in the store if you can - each wallet has different grain - i REALLY want a pebble grain version.. the bumps would get crazy nice patina:)

Re: leather wallets:

I'm still using one from Oroton that I purchased 14-15 years ago. The leather has a great patina and it's gone from mid-brown to dark chocolate. However, the interior lining of the note pocket and one of the other pockets, which is made from fabric, is in shreds so I'm either going to have to replace it or see if I can get the lining replaced somewhere (any suggestions gratefully received).

If I do have to get a new one, I was thinking of contacting SF member luk-cha so as to ask about having one made for me - have a look at his blog here: Portland Street Leather.

Thanks for the kind words, but I could stand to lose some weight.

I posted the following photos a few months back, after rather a long day at work (and a large-ish lunch, if I remember correctly) and a few, somewhat critical comments were levelled at me!

I'm not sure why everyone is being so indifferent when the jacket is far too tight.

The button is facing your shoulder, indicating that it is being pulled, the shoulder padding is past your arm and the sleeves are too short.

I am a largish guy and the simple truth is that you need to get clothes tailored to fit your shape, you can't grab a small jacket and hope that the waist suppression will make you look slimmer, because in my honest opinion this makes you look fat and square.
You might actually not be that way in real life but the fit of your clothes does nothing to convince me otherwise.

On the topic of leather goods, if anyone is purchasing something from Oroton I am happy to supply the 50% off family and friends coupon I received today. PM me.

I met him in HK a few years back; he's a really nice guy. He introduced me to Zee's. $200 for a pair of MTM shoes, $100 for a croc MTM wallet. I was delighted.

Cheers for that, will check them out. I've also had EyewearYouwear in Surry Hills recommended as another optometrist with a good range of frames.

This is my current wallet. It's not for everyone, but I love it.

Also,

I've seen a lot of high quality Ipad sleeves, and 13" laptop sleeves. I wanted something for my Nexus 7, but am unable to find anywhere like Berg and Berg that is offering a product.

Any Australian leather outfits worth a try? I was going to ask Temono (who I've got a relationship with), or Tailfeather, any other ideas?
