I've got a bunch of overseas guests atm but tonight no one here except me.

So its Single Malt.

I cooked up a red meat curry and spag bol sauce at weekend - not in same pot - so a small bit of Basmati in rice cooker and heated up curry with yoghurt and various Indian chutneys. Had a small watch of only decent TV show = COPS.

edit:: I am seriously considering possibly getting drunk and sniping on ebay to outbid bunny and a few others on a smelly greasey barbour coat and worn fake cordovan shoes or something....

Just to illustrate not all idiots are on the buying side.

It's possible. I order my shirts more sloped and shorter on my left (3 broken collarbones) shoulder than the right. Works a treat.

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a pair of tan brogues (Loake Chester) which I wear to work, and I'm looking at getting a cheaper (~$100) pair of brown dress shoes, either cap toe or wingtip, to rotate with the Loakes so I'm not wearing them out too quickly.

Any suggestions? I see the JC Penney Stafford shoes come recommended as a decent, passable shoe for its price, but they're not available in Australia. I may get them through Price USA but if there's something local I'd rather go with that.

Obviously at that price I'm not looking for anything near the quality of the Loakes, but something that looks somewhat decent when my primary shoes are resting.

Thanks!

In off topic clothing news here are some pics from last week.

I'd really like to get some full fit pics happening but that would require me to:

1) find the time in the morning

2) remove the small child attached to my leg

3) learn to use my camera properly

4) find an appropriate spot in the house

5) get my wife to help (last time I asked her she rolled her eyes and walked off.....haha)

I don't like my chances. Flash went off in the last one making the colours a little washed out.

Bj (Hahh!)-   I'd say best bet is probably ebay (if your willing, also sorry to bring this accursed name into it :P)

Spandex- Looking snazy, especially for a first time post and in from what I see your fit is better than most :) Do you have a timer on your camera?

Yes!

One of his Koi guitars - gorgeous in my mind.

I'm more of a fan of his apprentices (Matsuda, Kostal and Kraut), but the master cannot be beaten sometimes.

A guitar player?

Any particular brands/shoes I should be looking for?

I have an aversion to anything second-hand, especially shoes, but I suppose it's a good idea to look for brand new items on eBay. Thanks for the suggestion.

I like Matsuda's designs but have never heard of Kostal or Kraut. The Somogyi Modified Dread is a wonderful thing! I just took a look at their sites and you can see the similarities. Yep, I'm an acoustic guitar player smile.gif

What kind of music do you play?

+1

Jas, shame about your shirts not being available in a 40 yet. I'm going to try the 39 and 41 though smile.gif

A lot of different stuff - learned guitar and double bass for about 10 years - played a lot of classical (Sor, etc) and orchestras (Tchaikovsky is still my favourite), later got more into bass guitar and latin music (BVSC, folk music, salsa and rhumba in particular - afro-cuban mainly). Also very interested in music recorded completely by an artist - Jean Baudin, and a lot of the candy rat players for acoustic. Mostly I just enjoy music that moves me, and the stuff I create is pretty odd, I suppose, but I really enjoy creating my own stuff. I love playing in bands as a bassist, not so much as a guitarist!

Tony McManus is still nearly perfection for acoustic playing and composition, for me.

Check out some Kraut's - his designs are off the charts.

Say, you're in/around Williamstown, yeah? I used to learn from Ray Smith for ages (guitar player working out of Yarraville, been there for ever AFAIK, everyone sort of knows him, it seems).

What about you?

What's happening guys - first time into this particular thread and sub-forum :)

Thoughts on my first suit purchases for full time work; have a budget of anywhere from $1000 to $2500, looking at getting two new suits for a 5-day a week job, living in Melbourne. I have quite a slim physique, generally OTR stuff doesn't fit well.

Hear good things about P Johnson and American Tailors. Any other suggestions, questions or thoughts?

Just sent you a PM, Matt.

Hi aussiejake, welcome to our corner of SF.

At the risk of getting yelled at by other members, you might like to look in at Azzaro and try on some of their Versace stuff. It is pretty slim fitting.

The also have really nice Antichi Telai suits that I would consider slim fit.

If you can find something there that fits, 2 for <1500 is quite doable.
