Haha. I can see metal sports coats and other items going big next season. First you'll see a hint of metal accessories worn by Nick Wooster, then PG will have some metal pants and before you know it, Owen and James have release metal driving moccs.

+1. Using a sniper such as Gixen is much better than manually entering a bid, or bids, for a few reasons:

- you don't have to stay up until the early hours of the morning for overseas auctions;
- you don't become tempted to place further bids and get involved in a bidding war in the last few minutes of an auction; and
- since it places your bid at the last minute, it avoids the unpleasant side-effect of the "place maximum bid early" strategy, which is that eBay noobs then often place multiple bids in a short period of time, driving up the price dramatically, in an attempt to find out (and beat) your maximum bid.

surely the younger will have come across metal in garments before? or maybe only me. think McQ, Dior Homme, Damir Doma, Song for the Mute or CoN. The last two are Aussie but SW&D so probably not known. I've only ever seen it used to provide a sheen (very light chain mail style running through) for skinny jeans and jackets.

Song has dressed Lupe Fiasco and Kanye before.

Also, if you put in a bid via Gixen and you get second thoughts before the auction ends, you can always withdraw it.

Seeing as you just posted all your shoes Gerry, have you looked into Vass at all? Something mentioned them recently in this thread, too, if I remember right.

It was probably me who mentioned them. I was planning on getting some Vass. I contacted them about it and got them to give me all the pricing and shipping details. I've been a bit busy and didn't get around to ordering, running the risk of being deemed a sartorial tyre kicker.

You might be able to turn up my post. From memory it was 4-6 weeks from order, direct bank transfer only, and runs about $500 in our money for any catalog range shoes in calf including shipping (via FedEx) and lasted trees.

Observations. Both my Drakes ties are 7cm width. HC ties were both 8cm width - same as herringbone and vanda. The taper on the HC is more as both HC and drakes narrow to the same width at the centre.

To my hand the drakes ties have more life as they are lighter and use less (or softer?) lining. The Vanda has no lining. HC is probably on par with Herringbone or a Rhodes + Beckett tie in terms of lining but even between the two that I have the thickness varies and obviously should as different materials should be lined differently.

The silver check tie is thicker than the green with white spots. In terms of blade length Im not a big fan of Vanda as I can only tie a single FIH knot without it looking uncomfortably short. My favourite tie is a P Johnson plain tie of mine. Its 155cm and ties the best knot out of any of my tie collection.

What kind of ties are these called... just skinny ties? Anyone have a fit pic?

I never looked into them because I'd always assumed they were in the Edward Green, G & G and John Lobb price range.

Sorry to hear that - it might have also happened with gixen but far less likely. The one good thing is that Barbour jackets are not rare items so you *will* find one.
