Not a fan of the orange clasp. I prefer more traditional looking penny loafers though :s

Some breton stripes would be nice...

I think PJ or any other established tailor in Aus would be a better bet. It brings to mind the issues of fast fashion and quality or quantity. Spend the extra $500 now, and reap the benefits later.

This book is a quite interesting. Worth a read!

That books sounds like the author's the one with the problem actually.

Gerry unfortunately that first site doesn't seem to ship internationally.

Half thinking of getting one of these at some point. Where else have people bought them from at a reasonable shipped cost (new)?

There's some interesting discussion about David Jones in the comments after this article:

http://www.watoday.com.au/business/dinosaur-djs-offers-predators-food-for-thought-20120919-265nv.html

People really don't like DJ's customer service, do they?  (I personally don't mind being left alone while clothes shopping, so big department stores suit me  tounge.gif)

My biggest issue is their prices.  Both Myer and David Jones.   Everything is expensive, even when on sale.  (Levi's are supposedly a cheap jeans brand, but they sell for $100+ a pair)

I think all of the big stores that i visit are struggling.  At Chadstone Shopping Centre both the Myer and David Jones menswear areas have (at least) half their change rooms permanently unavailable.    On the weekends this is a disaster.  Even if the store is relatively quiet, there will still be a queue for the change rooms.

I don't have much hope for their online store, and the upcoming revamp.  The navigation options and information about the clothes is absolutely minimal on there.  You get one photo and a one sentence description.  They don't even list measurements or size guides.  Even half-hearted ebay sellers can do better than that.

Levi's retail for about $30USD in the States at TJ Maxx.

Woo hoo! Uniqlo finally coming here!

Hopefully the prices remain similar. Now I have to travel less (country-wise) to go get my basics biggrin.gif.
