Odds on this is one of the Australian members here. The bit about cleaning shoes is the give away.

It was just weakly put together, too many characters with not enough development of them, meaningless backstory, unnecessary plot twist (don't know what all the fuss was about, wasn't a biggy). Compared to TDK, it was a significantly lesser achievement.

Obviously, this is IMO.

It was a weaker movie than TDK but I still thoroughly enjoyed it, useful that the previous movies / advertising was so good that I was already emotionally vested from the first scene. It was a bit farfetched (yes I know, superhero movie) in terms of how quick Batman gets back into the swing of things after such a long time.

SPOILER: SUPERMAN does not make an appearance (as per The Dark Knight Returns) :-( How funny / shocking would that have been

That's the epitome of success IMO, and they're still doing well with a thriving (both young and old) clientele. Cutler and Bijan are, similarly, doing very well with new and existing clients. I don't think P. Johnson has really done much more than those who have come before him. And there are plenty of other offshore MTM houses, just like P. Johnson, popping up throughout Australia, many as successful as Johnson (some less so).
Bespoke/MTM is going through a new-found popularity here, and that's a good thing across the board, but there are varied reasons for this.

I agree with you.

I think comparing P Johnson to Zinks or any of the other established tailors is a little bit apples and oranges. One is affordable MTM while the traditional bespoke cutters offer an almost completely different service. As such, their markets are generally quite different I think. PJ offers a good product at a good price no doubt, and he's carved out his niche through word of mouth (and word of twitter via his mostly younger clientele). His business is new and it is responsive to what clients want now; this is great for all concerned and he's no doubt helped to create a positive buzz around men's fashion/tailoring, especially among the younger generations.

Some of the traditional tailors have done us a great service by keeping the flame alive over a long period of time and servicing clients that were dressing well while Patrick and most of his customers were still in their baggy private school uniforms. The fact is both types of business, I think, are a good filip for each other and all to the good of the sartorial health of the nation.

Thoughts about quality of dub monks? Did you go the dainite soles?

yup dainite soles

havent put them on yet but quality wise id say are good and punch way above their weight in terms of dollars per quality rating.

Ill put them on a scale though...

Herring, Loake, Meermin, Mannina, Carmina, C&J hand grade,John Lobb, Cleverley

As in my black oxford review id say that the inside lining quality on the classic grade isnt that great although does the job. The styles/shape are good, the construction fairly good (when looking closely you can see the odd stray thread or not 100% perfect edging on the sole)

but these look like $300-400 shoes for $180-190. And for something like dubmunks which I consider more fashion orientated i.e. they come in and out of vogue then im more than happy with the Meermins for the purpose.

eyeing off those Christian Kimber desert boots next!
