Will that mean clearance shirts? Not that DJs will do that....

I picked up my Weymouths from American Tailors today. It took just under two months for them to arrive. Part of this is probably due to stock shortages, part was attributed to C&J closing over the summer break.

Anyway, they are amazing. It's one thing to see pictures of the shoe, but once they are on your foot they take on a completely different appearance. They have an amazing amount of arch support and fit me much better than a 358-lasted shoe...which poses some difficulty as the 337 lasted shoes are starting to be phased out (e.g. Seymour, Marston).

Does anyone want to share experiences as to how the 348 last compares to the 337 and 358?

They were sold out of C&J shoe polish, so interestingly Sebastian recommended Waproo polish (which he thinks is a better product than the C&J polish). He says he's tried Collonil but it doesn't cover marks and scuffs as well.

Oh, and Ron Walker was just walking into the store when I left (apparently he's a regular). I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. Have I turned into a toffy wanker now that I buy stuff from the same store as Ron Walker?

my opinion of Ron Walker changed slightly at the GP (I work as a marshal there) a couple of years ago when I saw him wandering around, and pick up a random piece of rubbish he saw on the ground and put it in the bin. It kind of indicated to me that he does actually give a **** about the appearance of the place. (he also wears an Omega Railmaster XXL, same as I'm wearing today)

Yeah Macclesfield seems to cover a few different styles of printed silk though. I've also seen them called 'neat' (I think by Drake's).

NFI if it would be classed as a Macclesfield or not - I hadn't heard that name until a few posts ago

From my experience in the UK C&J stores (oh and Tassles in HK), the 337 is marginally more roomy at the toes then the 348. This was confirmed by the sales assistance, FWIW.

I am tossing up on what my next pair of shoes will be – now that I have two pairs of Hallam (brown and black). I am thinking of getting a dark brown brogue boot (I already have a pair in tan, but can’t pull the colour off with any of my current suits), either that or get on board the double monk bandwagon. Or maybe some long wings…

For what it's worth I'm currently drooling over these.

NO one wants an overpriced product! But shoes are exceptions! haha!

haha, yeah I wasn't going to say anything, but it's pretty cool.
Pretty amazing too, that in a city of what, a million people? someone should see me, write about it, and then I read it so soon afterwards.

It probably says more about the general shabbyness of the rest of the population than it does about me though.....

Had some time hanging around Footscray over the weekend so I went in to Savers to have a quick look, hoping for some nice vintage cufflinks and whatnot. Pretty rubbish I have to say, Lots of polyester suits and ties and among the ties only see an ancient looking E. Zegna and a Cantarelli. I did however spot an interesting looking pair of brogues:

Not familiar with the brand at all: de commiaso or something.

Looks like its blake rapid (as there is a row of stitching inside the shoe)? The leather soles are barely scuffed at all.

No expert either but I think you are right about Maccelsfield ties being printed. As I understand it, a Maccesfield tie ought to refer to a printed silk tie woven in the town of the same name, in northern England. It has also become synonynmous with black and white wedding ties.
